Not impressive.
By zman2 - 3/2/2020

3rd team all conference? Not all state but all conference. Damn, maybe 67 is on to something. Hope not.
By Drakey - 3/2/2020

When we signed him i was under the impression that he was the better of the two brothers and that we did not want his brother. I started questioning that when I saw box scores a few times throughout the season. I haven't been able to find any information lately, but  had the impression earlier in the year that he is a 7ppg type player. The last thing we need is less offense.
By DUBulldog - 7/27/2019

Drake has offered Jordan Kwiecinski, a 6'8" forward from suburban Chicago link.  I wonder if they'll offer his twin brother too.
By dog67 - 3/12/2020

As a result of the IHSA cancelling the rest of the season, it looks like the next time Jordan plays will be in Des Moines in Drake blue.
If Loyola had beaten Evanston tomorrow, and Mundelein had beaten Stevenson, Jordan and Conor would have faced off on Tuesday in the Super Sectional (Elite Eight).
What a brutal way to end the year for the kids.
By Mc Bulldog - 3/14/2020

They are still playing in in Illinois? That is irresponsible, how can they blame through false narratives and be fear mongers with a basketball toynament going on?

I thought he said they WERE NOT playing.
By Mc Bulldog - 3/14/2020

I thought he said if one Chicago team beat another Chicago team they would still be playing each other, and it was brutal end to HS basketball careers. If he did not say that .... never mind. Fear monger onward.
You always follow the money or snatch to find the real answers, is the fear-mongering money motivated by criminal motivations or is someone gonna get laid?

Remember in grammar school English class when you learned how to diagram a sentence? Or don't any of you know the meaning of words????
I guess that you better read this post again, also, over and over and over.
First sentence.....The IHSA is cancelling the rest of the season.
Second sentence.... If Loyola HAD beaten, not if beats...Mundelein HAD beaten, not if beats....WOULD HAVE faced off, not will face off.
Man, I thought you guys were a fun group!!!!!

See Drakey, I was correct, again, as usual.

Gotta admit you were right this time.
By mnbulldog - 3/15/2020

Why did Iowa play their tourney? Seems insane with all the news.
By Drakey - 3/15/2020

They didn't have fans, maybe like 100 or so. Seems reasonable to me.
By ILLINOISBULLDOG - 3/15/2020

Not really. If one player was a carrier with close contact with others. Like Gobert (?) of the Jazz

Seems unlikely. I think Nebraska did the same thing.

I watched extended highlights from one of Jordan's games on Youtube. He certainly seems to have the potential to be a good college player. His high school coach is big on defense and it appears he was expected to guard the other teams best player each game. His brother played more of a low-post role, which will get you more rebounds and points and look better for the stats, but I think Jordan is clearly the more fluid and better prospect.

I can see where he fits into Garrett's role nicely. Excellent defender and rebounder, contributes on the offensive boards and back cuts, and can hit an open jumper. Similar moves to the basket as Ferguson too, quick and agile for 6'8. Maybe this is the lack of other news, but I'm higher on Jordan than I was before, but I don't think he'll be an immediate impact guy next year just yet.

Bennett is going to Siena his twin Jordan is coming to Drake.  Did you intend to be evaluating Jordan?

Nope, cabin fever just had me mixing up the names. Thanks for noticing, I will edit.

I think he looks freak'n fabulos! '67's scout is his own doing, free country and all. I can remember Bucky, Brent H, Adam E, Kayton K, etc. ... '67 would not have given them much of chance either, IMO. I'm pretty honk'n sure I trust DRock more than '67's scout. And don't forget, neither the Marine, Drakey, or Kurlander are afarid of '67!
There is a guy here in DSM that some of you have met that goes to almost every Drake game starting last year. He is pretty connected to AAU and a ton of college coaches. When Drake Signed Jordan he went out of his way to tell me how good this young man is going to be and what a great get DRock landed. SOOooooo, I'ma gonna disaagree witha 67 and we'll see who's hand plays out in the long run.
By dog67 - 3/25/2020

I will say that he is a definite better option than Ernst (even if he was healthy) or Pilipovic (better 3 point shot, from what I saw, even though he only took a couple). He did not play underneath at all when I saw him. He couldn't get around a kid who was 2 inches shorter and has not one D-1 offer. If you saw what I saw, you would have had a lot more to say than what I did, which was "no comment." He did make one steal and break away, which was very nice. With good coaching and playing a more suitable position, he has a good upside. You're talking like I don't want him to succeed. All I said was "no comment".
Anyway, for now, I am in good company.....
AP All State...1st Team..NO.  2nd Team...NO...Honorable Mention...NO
Illinois Basketball Coaches Association....1st Team (10 guys)...NO...2nd Team (10 guys)....NO ....3rd Team(10 guys)...NO ....Special Mention...YES (about top 50).
All Conference....1st Team...NO....2nd Team...NO.....3rd Team....YES.

Regardless, you guys need a good laugh. Check out the George Karl "You Tube" from The Johnny Carson show. LMFAO.

BUMP!!!

Maybe things have changed, but when I was a kid the Catholic League was a beast because the students were all recruited.  Not everybody can be the top scorer.  Adam E. didn't have the sexiest numbers, but he was the intangible player that got the machine to run.  Speaking of running, Jordan can run the floor, handle the ball, shoot the three, pass and drive.  The best Mid-Major squads are the best TEAMS, with versatility.  Pre--DD,  over the past ten years, we saw little development in players.  I think I could have seen a player like Jordan, or a Nate Ferguson, on the 07-08 team. JK might need to gain some muscle, maybe redshirt.  But, I'm all in with this kid's complete game and basketball IQ.

This is a pull from a previous linked article and his junior year highlight reel...

The leader of the defense, as usual, was 6-8 Drake recruit Jordan Kwiecinski, who blocked three shots and altered numerous others.”The thing about Jordan that I love is he’s been our intangible player of the year and our defensive player of the year,” Livatino said. “You don’t find a lot of Division I players who are willing to make that kind of commitment to the defensive end without fail.”
”Jordan is really good at knowing the role of being the best defender in the state, and that’s what he strives to be,” Palmer said. “He knows buckets will come, but that’s not what he’s looking to do.

I thought the same... Listed at 6'9" in the video... Might be our tallest player next season, just needs to add some more strength from the looks of it.
By UrbyJT - 4/9/2020

Yeah I’m wondering if he’ll grow into being able to contribute at the 5 eventually.

I don't think he's a five.  Handles the ball well.  Looks to be a good outside shooter.  Pretty athletic.  Stopper on defense.  I'd say a three or four.

He may not be but as of now we have no 5 and he is our tallest player. Hope we can still add a 5.

Samake will play five.  And we're likely to recruit a transfer.
By Dawg_tired - 4/9/2020

I'm not saying he won't get minutes at 5, but it won't be his natural position IMO.
By usmcdog - 4/9/2020

Is playing with a 5 a must? I  think not. We may be better not playing with a player in the post jamming up the middle.  Somewhat like 07-08.

That 2019-20 reel should not leave anybody asking, can he play the five?
S$%t, the kid is skilled across the board and is still in high school.
Better question, with some muscle, what position will he not be able to play?

He will earn the nickname:
SPECIAL K

And, as Nipsey Russell said, " When you a "has been", just think of where you has been."
