Shout out to the Cubs for giving KC Sveum. His move to hitting coach roughly coincides with the Royals current winning streak.

LurkingDog (6/18/2014) Shout out to the Cubs for giving KC Sveum. His move to hitting coach roughly coincides with the Royals current winning streak. What's interesting is that the main reason Sveum got fired by the Cubs was the huge step backwards that the team's top 2 young hitters took under his leadership (Castro and Rizzo). Both have rebounded nicely this season with Sveum gone.

I had a lit prof at Drake make fun of me for wearing a Royals hat to class one day. There were like 2-3 of us fans in the class, we banded together. Alas the Royals were something like 8-15 at the time.

Here's a rough transcript of a conversation on ESPN last Saturday. guy in suit: Do you think the Royals will get that 2nd wild card spot in the playoffs? Rick Sutcliffe: No. Rick Sutcliffe: I think they'll win the division. I think the Tigers will be the 2nd wild card. Maybe Sutcliffe, a lifelong Jackson County resident, was a little biased. But it was good to hear.

I think the jinx is offset with a regional cover though.

Fate must be smiling on the Royals when they can call up an unknown Aussie from AA...and he shuts down the Twins in his first start. Oy!

Sounds like it will be close to sold out for all three games of the big series with Detroit this weekend.

All seats have been sold. Standing room tickets are available. The Royals have two finesse pitchers going this weekend. Fingers crossed.

Tonight should have been the tiebreaker game to decide the AL Central. But on Sept 20th, the umpires changed an "unreviewable" call, after initially saying Salvy Perez had tagged up and scored on a fly ball. After the Tigers' video board showed the replay for the next five minutes, the umps conferred and called Perez out. The Tigers won, 3-2.
