His name has already come up for the Kansas State opening and the Missouri opening. I'm guessing his name will come up with every P5 opening in the midwest.
I think (and hope) he'll be back next season. I know Drake can't pay him what some of these other school's can offer, but I think he genuinely likes it here, and he knows he has job security. I hope he pulls a Ben Jacobson and passes up bigger offers to stay in one place.
But, this is something that will be a possibility every off-season....us Drake fans aren't accustomed to having a coach who's a hot commodity.

I think as long as Tucker is at Drake and wants to stay Darian will stay as well. We have a few years at least.

He was at Creighton for a loooooong time and pursued the Drake job 3? times. He doesn’t seem like a conventional job-hopper and K-State/Missouri don’t feel like final jobs for him.

I’m not too concerned for a lot of reasons. But it does suck to see all the rumors. I think coach should be wary of hopping elsewhere when Tucker is around as he could just get spit out once Tucker is done.
One good thing about DD sticking around a bit so far, is that I’m hoping the contract extension he signed last year included an increased buyout which could go a long way in helping fund the continuity of the program should our worst fears come to fruition. Since Keno and Niko both jumped ship so early, I’m guessing Drake didn’t financially benefit too much.

Unlike K-State, Missouri is a program with top-10 potential. Don't know whether our man will be considered, but it's not lost on Tiger fans that the last UNI grad they hired was pretty good. I think their basketball court bears his name.

Why do we start this kind of thread every ****ing year? This is just negative masturbation. You stoke and you stroke and never get off. What's the ****ing point? Delete the ****ing thread.

DeVries' name has been mentioned for a couple of jobs. Is he interested? Who knows. But, it was already being discussed in the thread you started to thank him. If I delete this thread, the discussion will still continue in your thread that was for something else. It's going to be discussed, so might as well have a thread for it.

This is the biggest reason why I'm not completely worried. He had 17 damn years to take any job but he was essentially waiting for Drake or Creighton. I mean with P5 schools there's always a chance he gets money whipped but idk, he seems like one of the few guys who honestly doesn't prioritize it. I guess we'll see but I'm more optimistic than I was with Keno or Niko.

Agreed. Go back to this article a year after he was hired. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/college/drake/2019/03/07/how-does-drake-basketball-keep-darian-devries-being-another-fly-night-bulldogs-coach-missouri-valley/3065190002/“I don’t think you ever make promises, and you never say never, but it’ll take something really special for me to want to leave a place like this,”

Always worried, but I don't think coach is ready to leave. It looks like we have another great team next season. Another factor is how good would our Drake squads fair in Big 12 or SEC? Can coach adjust his recruiting to target each schools areas and get better players. I'm not sure because our roster has been intact and needed minimal recruits. Look at yesefu, Robbins, and his son would be a nice trio, Yesefu-backup kansas pg, Robbins-starting center below average big conference teams, Tucker-probably can play anywhere. Obviously, the transfer portal year one, but then what?
K-State is paying Webber 2.9 mil a season so 2.5 mil for a coach. Probably, wants.a guy who recruits Texas and Jucos Well, Baylor assistant Tang name has popped up and I would probably hire Medved depending on what staff comes along since he recruits Dallas and the Midwest. I don't see a top guy (Chris Mack, Tom Crean, Sean Miller) taking the job maybe Archie Miller, but they're passing on him.
Mizzou makes sense to go after at least Travis Ford. Precious Big 12 experience and recruits st.louis well already. If they go big time Sean Miller. Kenny Payne-UK-knicks assistant coach name has been dropped. Seems Mizzou probably will choose another option.than our coach.
After reading everything Evansville better hire a good AD. They could go after Crean, Archie Miller and or Chris Mack. Idk what happened to Mack at Louisville, but a chance for Archie too. Maybe he build Evansville into a Dayton

DD is the anti-McCaffrey. Nobody will go after Fran because he's insist on bringing his kids along.

Great points Ldog. Are those names rumored at Evansville? I’d love for them to bring in that level of coach and begin to compete, but I don’t think they have the budget to swing that. I’m sure Miller and Crean are going to expect much more than what poor Licklitter took.
The other coaching search with valley ties is to see what happens at Murray. McMahon is the hot name everywhere you look.
