Drake will conclude the ESPN Events Invitational this Sunday against the North Texas Mean Green. Game is a 9:30 AM Central Time start on ESPNU.
North Texas has wins against Oklahoma Christian and UT Arlington, losses to Arkansas (exhibition), Buffalo, Kansas, and Miami, FL. Last season they won the Conference USA Tournament and upset Purdue in the first round before losing to Villanova in the second.
Let's get at least one win out of this weekend.

There aren't any bad teams in this tournament but we definitely need a win to get the momentum going in the right direction.

They played Kansas the first round. Less talented than Kansas obviously but they are physically tough. Won’t be easy game

Very physical team is correct!
Center is 6’10 230 Sophomore. Should be interesting to see what five Drake goes with when he’s in for half of the game. His name is Abou Ousmane. Doesn’t get many touches offensively. 50% from the line, and just 43% from 2.
Majority of the guys on the court are 6’6. - 5’11. PG is the general, 5’11 junior, Tylor Perry. 9-20 from three, 86% from the line. Roman will have his work cut out.
McBride and Bell are the only other two who will shoot from three, both shooting 33%.
The team has a Kenpom ranking of 119.
I think Drake plays hard, but they are the Bulldogs of last year when they play intense. When guys are moving without the ball. We saw some of the moments. Not sure if anybody else saw it, but a simple Tank rebound, where he elevated to grab the ball, made believe he was back!
I’m sure the guys are disappointed because they know they could have had better minutes. Let’s see the ‘Dogs grab this one and finish on a high note.
Clemson isn’t too 20, but winning out the non-conference schedule would be a good start.
By the way, Loyola is the real deal.

This game is somewhat meaningless except for maintaining a sense of pride and team confidence. Gotta win.

I think we are getting too comfortable with dribbling and neglecting off the ball movement. Overuse of the dribble results in spectatorship . Move the ball.
BAN THE BALL SCREEN!!! BAN THE BALL SCREEN!! BAN THE BALL SCREEN!!

It is certainly not meaningless. It is a must win.

There is no such thing as a meaningless game in college basketball.

+x+xThis game is somewhat meaningless except for maintaining a sense of pride and team confidence. Gotta win. I dunno.....I think it's huge if Drake wants to have any small chance of an at-large. Win out the rest of our games but maybe lose to Loyola in the MVC tournament and a loss to North Texas would for sure not help us with an at-large bid. That scenario would be a small chance for an at-large bid. But yes, when you look at it that way it does rise above somewhat meaningless. Good point DUBulldog. I do think there is also some important value in the team pride and confidence categories.

We would not have to win out for an at large. We could win out non conference and finish with 2-3 conference losses and probably get in.

Coach said in the pregame that they are going to start the game deploying their full court press.
It looks like UNT only goes 7 deep in their close games, so I think DeVries wants to try and hope they are more worn out than the dogs are.

UNT has five offensive rebounds in three possessions. Drake has two turnovers in two possessions.

0 points 4 turnovers 5 offensive rebounds for NTSU
This team always comes out so flat.
