Based on podcast comments by the head coach, I was expecting the top two teams to play in a league championship game. Not sure how they intend to break ties. There's room for a paycheck game on the front end of this schedule.

Outdoors, large stadium, cases should be on the downside with a vaccine out...no reason not to have fans, right?

+xOutdoors, large stadium, cases should be on the downside with a vaccine out...no reason not to have fans, right? I haven't heard of a single expert expecting enough people to be vaccinated to have large crowds until Memorial Day weekend at the absolute earliest and most are thinking sometime between Independence Day and Labor Day. Maybe if they space out the crowd enough like they did for most of Iowa State's home games (among others) you could get something. Probably would work better for Drake than other schools considering we average 3500 in a 14k stadium normally. I wouldn't start buying (or selling) tickets yet though.

The last two games I went to (Morehead/Dayton last year) had 3900 combined. You can spread crowds out very nicely, unfortunately. I think there were four people in my section at the Dayton game.

I wonder how many of the spring games we will play in this tight window given 16 bowl games have been canceled including the Holiday Bowl, Sun Bowl, Independence Bowl, and the Music City Bowl featuring our neighbors to the east... Music City Bowl canceled after Mizzou virus spike

USD just "paused" its basketball season for the second time. Unless things soon change for the better in California, the league's dominant program may not be playing until fall. As 2323 noted, vaccines won't be a factor until after the Spring. The PFL membership may have to grapple with questions such as: what is the minimum number of games a school must play to qualify for the league championship. At the NCAA level, will it be acceptable for a Pioneer team to receive an automatic playoff bid with a league record of 3-0? How about 2-0? Compared to early August, when the league canceled the fall season, infection rates are way out of control and not likely to improve much before the scheduled spring football season.

There is no reason fans should not be at these games, given that many of them are families... most of the stadiums hold much more than the attendance will be (most likely) On a separate note, what are some of your takes on College Players skipping a bowl game to prepare for the draft? Personally I think it's bad form and I know the counter if they could get hurt, lose millions of dollars in dropping in the draft etc. But are they not still part of the team? Are they not still receiving payment (scholarship $) for the semester? It's akin to quitting and I just don't like it.... maybe I'm old school but that's my 2 cents.

They do seem to be skipping out on an obligation. However, I would guess that most of those people are not only quitting their team, they are also quitting school. Going to a bowl under those circumstances, the head coach may be happy with the additional opportunity to showcase players who are staying.

I'm looking forward to getting vaccinated and reading some reassurance from Drake that fans can attend these games. If it happens in that order, I'll be there for a game or two.

It's outside... they have had fans at basketball games... in a much smaller venue... no reason there won't be fans at a stadium that holds 14000
