The Mid-American Conference appears to be following the same model as the Missouri Valley. The Big Ten Conference elected to stop teams from expanding to full pad practices.
According to one article I read two Power 5 ADs who wanted to remain unidentified said all DI football will go to this model. “The Pac-12 will be next and then the Big Ten,” one AD said. “The Big Ten just going to no contact, what’s that going to do for you With California being so prominent [with the coronavirus], I see the Pac-12 getting out there next.”
And one of the NCAAs top doctor stated... Dr. Amesh Adalja, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security and one of the members of the group advising the NCAA on COVID-19, told the Free Press on Saturday that it appears virtually impossible for college football to proceed this fall. He cited two key reasons: delays in getting test results due to the volume needed, particularly for administering them multiple times per week and “the risk of community spread impinging on the sport.”
This is starting to feel like last spring when the NCAA canceled the DI basketball postseason. Delay, delay seeing the lost dollar signs and then public pressure to finally cancel.
