Time to bounce back at home. Indiana State might have the best guard court in the league, but I don't know if they have anybody who can stop Liam.

this will be an exciting game for sure, you're right, we don't have anyone to stop your 7 footer, so he'll have an advantage for sure. Our guards are playing better, and our freshman class of LaRavia and Wiliams had excellent games vs SIU the other night.
I expect a game similar to what you had vs Bradley last night.
We only won 3 times at Drake the past decade, so it's usually hard for us to win in Des Moines, then we head straight to UNI next

I think which team's "Bigs" can stay out of foul trouble and log the most minutes will win this game. Made free-throws could also be a factor.

This is a big game for both teams. I was surprised to see such a turn around in the Mo State game, I thought the Sycamore's were going to win by 20. Three point shooting and low turnovers also have to work along with the big guy. happening. Will be a good game.

+xI think which team's "Bigs" can stay out of foul trouble and log the most minutes will win this game. Made free-throws could also be a factor. For Drake, with injuries and having 10 guys in the non-conference rotation, lots of mixing and matching. Drake entered the conference starting three sophomore, a junior college transfer and a senior with only one year off the bench playing D-1. Not much conference experience. Drake played well at Bradley, but expect the 'Dogs will be a different team at the end of the year, as will many other Valley teams being so young. With Coach DD, outstanding adjustment and development of players last year, and am optimistic we will see the same this year. Please, no more injuries. ISU-B opponents of interest: Lost at Dayton opening game 86-81. Crushed Air Force in the Bahamas 84-74... Up by as many as 20 with 14 minutes remaining. Defeated Wright State in OT 84-77 (WSU was minus center Love). Wampler shot 1-11 With so much parity in the Valley, free throws, unforced turnovers and senior leadership will play big(ly) in a majority of the Valley games... especially early in conference play. There are a tremendous amount of "utes", I mean youths, in the conference and teams are still getting their footing. Drake and ISU-B each have had eight different starters. Sycamores started off 0-4, but have won eight in a row. ‘Dogs last couple of outings have displayed more confidence on the offensive end, with room for growth and consistency. As far as the Tree's go, they have great leadership with Barnes playing much more of a complete point guard than previous years. Plus, Blue has Key (31 minutes per game), just a junior, who often plays as if he's been in Terre Haute for ten years. Personally, with Barnes playing 34 minutes a game, and with the ball in his hands most of the time, I think Drake must make his life a living hell. Some front court pressure would be nice to slow him down. I hope Thomas doesn't have issues with his leg. Too bad Yesufu is out with an injury. It would have been nice to see Joe for 4-5 minutes a half forcing Barnes to use his energy. Neese, Williams, LaRavia, Bacote nice underclassmen parts, but not necessarily in the paint defensively against Robbins. That being said, Robbins, who looks better with each possession, is still learning how to defend and get position for a rebound. It's great to see him not being as aggressive with his hands. Maybe ISU's Kessinger, who is getting just 12 minutes a game, will get more time because of his experience. He had a really good showing last year at home against Drake. I ask you, ISU_Blue,are you confident the Sycamore underclassmen are ready to contribute on the road in the Valley?

I wonder if everyone should bring a box of Kleenex for Lansing, I'm sure he will be crying to the refs like a little biooootch, as usual.

The two frosh don't seem to lack confidence & both can handle physical play and dish it out but they will undoubtedly have a learning curve in their first year thru the Valley. So it remains to be seen ...... ask me again in a month or so.

Kind of agree w/Drakey. Home games are almost all must win games if you want to contend for the league title, which I still think is pretty wide open, as proven by the Panthers losing their first game on the road. Take care of the home court and try and steal a few on the road. That would have been a nice win the other night but just couldn't close it out in the final 2 minutes.

Off topic but a Peoria Journal Star article today reported the Valley non-con home attendance figures and Drake was at the bottom averaging only 2500+ per game. Sad!

The home games I went to in the non-conference were very disappointing from a crowd perspective. Granted there weren't any noteworthy opponents but I would have hoped for at least the first game where we raised the banner we would have gotten a larger crowd than we did. Tuesday's game will be nationally telecast on CBS Sports Network. If we want anywhere close to a decent crowd (late start on the same night as high school games not doing us any favors either) we have to dominate. Drake is listed as a 3 point favorite, ESPN's predictor puts our chances of winning at 61.5%.

It is getting harder and harder to get attendance. opponents were of no interest to anybody, but I'm not sure anybody in this market even knows Drake has played most games. No media coverage. I don't know how you battle it. If the Des Moines paper would at least run some type of game day article it would help some. They only do it for iIowa and Iowa State. I seriously don't know how any casual fan would ever know Drake is playing. I would guess we are the only school in the Valley that does not get covered by the local paper.

I've heard from several folks, who I believe are in the know, that the RAG and USA Today are going out of business. It is possible they will first try to "phase out the print addition" and go strictly online. But the prediction is unless Soros, or some other terrorist, funnels the corkchuck'n pracks cash, they will not be able to sustain the debt load. ... and feed 'em beans.
The only issue with the RAG going under is there won't be a way to flag companies to boycott.
Must figure out how to keep Liam in the game for 32 or more minutes. DJ needs to get back in the groove, and soon. Other than that, the team seems to continue to improve each time out. I'm thinking if the Dogs can get out of the gate they can pick the tree to lift a leg on. Hope Lansing starts visibly crying today.

To Jackson: at least try to rebound!!!!! Team rebounding must improve over the Bradley game.

Gannett the company that owns USA Today and the Register was acquired by Gatehouse Media back in August. I don't know anybody who has bought a USA Today in the past 5-10 years.
