Unfortunately Drake was just outside the AP Top 25 this week at 27th.
Sara Rhine did collect first of what will probably be many MVC Player of the Week honors.

AP rankings for 11-19-19 have Drake in "Other receiving votes", @ 32. Drake will get two or three attempts at #30 Missouri State, have the opportunity to play number #28 Arizona State in Florida if the 'Dogs first defeat Purdue. If they can defeat Arizona St, who lost soundly @ #31 Minnesota, who lost @ home badly to Missouri State, Drake should have a chance to play #23 Gonzaga.
The Florida Thanksgiving tournament is a great opportunity!
Others receiving votes( starting @ 26): Notre Dame 62, Arizona 53, Arizona State 46, South Dakota 26, Missouri State 24, Minnesota 13, Drake 6, Texas 5, Rutgers 2, Northwestern 1

The Gulf Coast Showcase will be key to Drake getting a quality NCAA Tournament seed. Looking down the schedule, the Oklahoma game might look good on paper but the Sooner women are coming off an 8 win season. Iowa also appears to have taken a big post-Gustafson fall off after being blown out by UNI yesterday. The Showcase will likely be Drake's last chance outside of MSU for potential high quality wins.

The Valley finally getting some love from ESPN Bracketology.... With Missouri State winning at Minnesota (Bracketology #6), advancing to the WNIT championship and losing a close game at Oregon State, the Bears are sitting as a 5 seed. Oregon State has moved to a #1 seed. Drake is now in the Beaver's bracket as an 8 seed. Potentially another outstanding non-conference schedule: Other teams of interest potentially on Drake's schedule.... Iowa 12 Iowa St 11 Arizona St 8 (could face in second round in Florida) Gonzaga 7 (could face in the third round in Florida) South Dakota 8 (Drake lost @ SD in OT) Oklahoma (currently next four out) http://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/bracketology

Hope we can bump up to a 7 seed at minimum. It's still early.

Plenty of opportunity next week to move up, or down. Obviously can't sleep on Western, but the neutral court games in Florida are going to be HUUUUUUGE! By the way, the upper half of the Valley can compete. It would be nice if Drake, Missouri State, UNi and Bradley could win out in non-conference. Long way until March! 'GO DOGS!

Bad News: Drake down to just a single vote in AP rankings.
Good News: MVC has the 3rd highest conference RPI ranking behind the Pac 12 & Big Ten.
Not sure how I feel about this: An NCAA.com article today has Drake as a 10 seed and Missouri State as a 7 seed.
A good amount of discussion during the Gulf Coast Showcase suggested the MVC could get 3 teams into the NCAA Tournament this year, but Drake's position as an at-large would certainly come into jeopardy with bad losses to Oklahoma/Iowa/Northern Illinois.
The NCAA is scheduled to start publishing daily RPI rankings for all teams individually starting again in Mid-December.

Every game, sadly, is a must win for Drake... especially in the non-conference. Missouri State is good, really good. Bears only loss, at #5 Oregon St., was a close game and they still only get a seven seed. Gonzaga's only loss is in OT to #1 Standford and they still don't get a 4 seed. The NCAA continues to reward pay for play to the POWER5 programs.
Maybe this is the year it will change.

I doubt that the NCAA will ever get over their bias. The RPI is a tool that the NCAA uses to elevate P5 schools in the seedings but when a mid-major has a high RPI they downplay it. It is a joke. There simply are not 24 teams better than Missouri State or 16 teams better than Gonzaga in women's college basketball this year. I think based on results and watching them both play several times that they both are legitimate top 15 teams. According to the schedule Missouri State plays at Gonzaga on December 20. That should be quite a game and one would think that would be an advantage to Gonzaga to be at home but Missouri State seems to play better on the road than at home. Meanwhile we just need to avoid bad losses and win the games we should and then hope for a seed other than 8 or 9. A seed higher than 6 probably is not going to happen, A 6 or 7 seed would be a good spot or at worst a 10 or 11 seed.

Drake, again, is playing one of the most difficult non-conference schedules in the country. It wasn't long ago the Valley was ranked as low as the 26th of 32 conferences. No longer the case. Now ranked 7th in the RPI, the conference will be no cupcake. Drake will have plenty of opportunities to prove they belong on the list of top teams before conference play with games at Oklahoma(54) , @ Iowa (26) and @ Northern Illinois (158)). Drake has the opportunity to go 4-1 against teams 1-54 in non-conference.
Each of the remaining non-conference games is winnable with DEFENSE.

Like you said there are plenty of opportunities ahead of us so we just need to close out non-conference strong. I don't like RPI but still surprising to see MVC teams so high in RPI. Missouri State is clearly not the second best team in the country but nevertheless it points out how clueless others in MVC were to not vote any of their players as pre-season all MVC and it calls into question how we were picked above them when they only lost one player from last year. In the end it will be settled on the court. Their success points to the importance of defense. Interesting to consider who each of you consider the 5 best players in the MVC this year.

Another solid non-conference schedule. The next two road games are great opportunities. Accurate, or not, the Valley is no longer a pushover.

Drake is now on the first four OUT list on the newest ESPNW backetology released today.
Right now the only win we have against a team in the tournament is against Creighton. Sadly it's not enough at the moment. We are also winless in true road games so far this year.
RPI: 2 Missouri State (also 20 in AP, 6 seed in Bracketology) 34 Drake 36 UNI 48 Illinois State 80 Loyola Chicago 82 Southern Illinois 119 Bradley 141 Valparaiso 289 Indiana State 334 Evansville
The first two conference games, at home against UNI and on the road at Missouri State, may very well decide if we have any chance at an at-large bid.
