I watched the Bearcats on the road at Ohio St. Saying they shot poorly would be kind, 4-21 from three and 33% from the floor. Some call Jarron Cumberland the best player in the AAC. Last year, the offense ran through him. With Mick Cronin gone, new coach, former Northern Kentucky Head Coach John Brannen, is trying to get more players involved, goes pretty much seven deep (only two guys off the bench averaged 25 minutes... nobody else had more than five minutes), and loves the full court pressure. Really aggressive on the defense end, guys were fouling early and often. Very sloppy first half, they settled down, played with the same intensity defensively, but had little rhythm on the offensive end. Cumberland will drive endlessly and try to force contact. PG is Cumberland's cousin, Jaevin, who is a grad transfer from Oakland U. Was a scorer last year, but didn't impress me at the point against OSU.
It’s too bad TM isn’t there. Very similar body and game as Jarron Cumberland. Most minutes Cats go 7ft C, 6’8 F, 6’5 F, 6’1 sg and 6’3 pg. They are 25-35 pounds heavier than the ‘Dogs at the 2-3-4. Cincinnati will be favored by about 15. They are athletic, but not guys who are jumping out of the gym. Their centers weren't dominating, but OSU was bigger and stronger down low against Cincy. How well will Drake shoot on the road? Can they force Cincy to shoot from three and prevent Cumberland from driving to the basket; finishing and not letting him get to the line? Coach mentioned the team might play more zone this year. This might be the time to mix it up and force Cats to shoot the three, and to avoid the backdoor cuts. Good test, it would be a great win! Cincy was in it ‘til the end at top 20 Ohio St. and 'Cat fans online were destroying them. "Drake" post, has these comments on Cincy Fan Forum: Don't sleep on Drake. #137 in Kenpom. Just played their first game tonight. They Just hit 17 three's on 59% shooting. Scored 86 points on 66 possessions which is 1.30 ppp. This is a very high level and high competition buy game. Gotta stay focused and ready. and This is definitely a possible loss and not a cake walk. Hopefully the players understand that. I'm confident Brannen does, but good luck convincing college kids a school named Drake is actually a competitive squad and not a bottom feeder.

I have a feeling that drake will lose this game. the bearcats are just really athletic and tall. The bearcats also have an height advantage in the guard spot. Bearcats center is pretty athletic and will definitely give Liam a hard time. Since Brady and tremell are out it will be very hard to contain the bearcats frontcourt inside.

If Tremell and Brady were playing, I think we win this. As it is we’ll have to play our best. There were some struggles early on against Kennesaw’s full-court pressure and I’m sure we’ll see more of that on Monday. Gonna have to limit turnovers and get a big game out of Liam.

I think if we had a full squad it would be a competitive game. These guys are a perennial NCAA team. Cincy is a very tough place to play. I think the Dogs will play well, and Cincinnati just isn't a very good offensive team. They are, however a very physical and good defensive team. If we can limit turnovers and keep our composure I think we can play w/these guys. Wish the game was a little later in the season, but that's ok. Give some of our guys an idea of what it's like to play an NCAA tournament team.

The Bearcats will give up a little past the half, will be tired of seeing the Bulldogs raining three's.

From 1957-1969, the Cincinnati Bearcats were allowed to show their ugly faces in the MVC. I have it on good authority that the Bearcats left because they knew they'd never be able to beat Drake again. Heck, the only reason the MVC let 'em in, in the first place, was because of Oscar Robertson!!! (a/k/a the only Bearcats player who wasn't ugly.) Bulldawgs will coast to an easy double digit victory in this one. It'll be over at halftime, and the score won't reflect how lopsided was the victory for the 'dawgs.
Are you talkin to me?

Looks like Jaume Sorolla from Valpo is suiting up for the Bearcats as a grad transfer.

+xLooks like Jaume Sorolla from Valpo is suiting up for the Bearcats as a grad transfer. He's about the same as last year. He splits time with the other 7ft who transferred from Northern Kentucky. Even minus TM, if Drake can shoot well, avoid turnovers that allow fastbreak baskets, hit free throws, defend and stay out of foul trouble, this is a winnable game. They have three transfers (Oakland, Valpo and Northern Kentucky) who were spokes, not cogs, at their former schools, combing for over 65 minutes on the floor. New Mexico and USD last year were better teams than this Cincy team. Give Bearcats credit, they played good defense against Ohio St, but the Buckeyes couldn't hit a thing in the first half.

Thanks NewDFan ... I've used ESPN Watch for several years or so and just couldn't remember how it worked. Nothing worse than tip off time and you can't access the honk'n stream. ESPN3 can be logged in to with video provider username and password, does not cost anything more. ESPN+ requires the $5 MRC.

+xESPN+ is great. Only $5 a month and with chrome cast you can watch on your big screen tv Also if this is your thing starting Tuesday you can get Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu for $12.99 bundled. Cincinnati is currently a 13 point favorite, ESPN+ gives them a 88.8% chance of winning. Final score predicted to be 76-63.

I think the line should shift with +13 ... already movement to +12, most money will be on Drake. Talk about underrated and disrespect, corkchuckers need an attitude adjustment, okay? Whole team needs a big showing but Liam and Antonio will make an especially important impact in this one. Liam's ability to stay on the court is huge, no no on the 'ol reachy, reachy. Is it possible Ferguson is a green light tonight? Drake's ability to get to the line and knock 'em down is paramount in this one.
Gotta keep the home cook'n at a minimum, not a night for sideline pocket pool!

We need everyone to play well. Can't wait!
