Anyone else see the flop warning called in the first half? The UIU bench got a warning when a player shot a 3 and fell down trying to draw a call.
Is there a new anti flop call this year? I’ve looked online and can’t find anything.

+xSurprising. With the injuries and suspension, it seems like a thin roster to have kids redshirting. They need the red shirt
Moving forward.....

I spoke to a couple of drake students at the game about Ferguson - apparently he’s 3 weeks out-disc injury to his back

I spoke briefly with Ernst after the Upper Iowa game and he claims he will for sure be back for the Florida tournament. That seems ambitious but it came from the horse’s mouth.

Wonder how long Ferguson is expected to be out. It's looking like Samake and Djamgouz might be redshirted. If Samake is redshirted, Bulldogs definitely will need a healthy Ernst and Ferguson.

That is interesting that Ernst said that. That’s a huge difference in timeline. Hopefully it’s the case but kinda odd he said it.

That’s exactly what I thought but he seemed pretty matter of fact in how he said it. I personally doubt we’ll see him by then but you never know how somebody’s body responds during rehab, especially if he’s busting his ass.

Maybe it was 8 - 10 weeks after surgery, when was the surgery?

I’ve looked online and can’t find anything. Ok, I think I found my answer... https://247sports.com/college/west-virginia/Article/College-basketball-flopping-rule-technical-foul-2019-20-season-137409083/"...Beginning this season, a player who flops and fabricates or unnecessarily exaggerates contact to draw a foul will get a warning that counts as a delay of game. Shaw said that warning counts for everyone on the team, as does any traditional delay of game warning. A second flop or an initial flop that follows a delay of game warning issued for another offense is a Class B technical foul and one free throw..." Will be interesting how many arguments these judgment calls by the refs will cause. Also, as my 9 year old said on Saturday..."lucky Reed Timmer isn't playing for Drake anymore." LOL

LOL Really stupid rule. 1. The clock is still running, so how can you have a delay of game, since the ref is not blowing the whistle for an infraction IF A FOUL IS NOT CALLED and the clock continues running? How is the game interrupted/delayed by a guy flopping? 2. If the flop hurts anybody, it's on the team whose player flops. If a player flops, then he is on the ground and his team momentarily has one less guy to defend, or is in his team's offense (the rule is worded where it seems to apply to a defensive or offensive player. I guess an offensive player can flop if he gets contacted on a pick). 3. There is a shot clock when the ball is in play. It's not like a team who makes a bucket, then a player on the team that made the bucket gets the ball and deliberately takes his time handing it to the opposition or putting it on the floor, which would be a delay of game. 4. If you want to penalize someone for flopping, then call it what it is.....unsportsmanlike conduct, perhaps? That would make more sense if you are going to reward a technical after the second one. If the clock stopped when there was a flop, THEN it would be a delay of game, since the flopping team may want to stop the clock on purpose....sort of like fouling a guy to stop the clock at the end of a game. But otherwise, for the reasons above, stupid rule. But a delay of game? The game is still being played, no matter how many guys hit the deck, as long as the clock isn't stopped. And, like Matt said, how many arguments will this cause? At least in baseball you can challenge a call with replay.

+xMaybe it was 8 - 10 weeks after surgery, when was the surgery? I stand corrected. It was Ernst. https://twitter.com/MatthewBain_/status/1187507019177254918It was 8-10 weeks from media day. The Thanksgiving Tournament would be 6 weeks. If you follow the Kansas City Chiefs and/or Patrick Mahomes you know players can always heal faster than standard time frames.
