We won’t get a non-conference schedule until late August, but some wishes/thoughts:
1) It would be nice to get a Drake vs Tennessee series going again. I’d like to think Harper could make that happen but still unlikely. 2) Oregon tweeted today they need 2 opponents in Eugene for this upcoming season. They are willing to do a home and home. 3) At Iowa/home against Iowa State only confirmed games I know of. Hope we keep the South Dakota/South Dakota State matchups going.

I'd probably dial back the difficulty just a bit compared to last year since it didn't really bear any fruit. We should theoretically have a home game against both Creighton and Nebraska. Definitely agree we should keep the series against the South Dakotas going, both are very good quality women's basketball programs.

I disagree.... the very tough non conference schedule got Drake the at Large bid to the NCAA tournament, otherwise they would have been playing in the WNIT. You have to play a tough non con to build the resume for the tournament. The wins vs S. Carolina, Rutgers and S.Dakota were all big factors for the at Large. Once you start MVC play the rip ratings start to go down because the competition is not as strong. Think about the teams that always schedule tough non conference.... Drake, UNI, Missouri St. .... they are the three that are always playing post season. Just my opinion!

They don't invite the same teams back each year so we won't have the Vancouver tournament but there should be something similar somewhere over Thanksgiving too.

I like that Drake played 6 quality opponents in non conference from the upper midwest (Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Creighton, South Dakota and South Dakota St. I would like to see them also try to include Kansas State, Missouri, DePaul, Marquette, and possibly Minnesota as often as they can work them into the schedules. If no Thanksgiving weekend tournament invites the Bulldogs, perhaps they could go on a 2 game road trip to a warmer climate that weekend. Rice and Texas A&M, Florida Gulf Coast & Miami or St. Marys & Stanford would be possible destinations to face quality programs.

Drake can't afford to dial back the schedule much as bad as the conference is. W/out the difficult non con schedule and us getting hammered in the Valley tournament we don't make the tournament. We're not a super athletic team and you just don't see these type of teams playing in the Valley. Dogs were well prepared and gave an SEC team all they wanted and probably should have beaten them. It would have been great to get a match up w/Iowa but it wasn't to be. Definitely in favor of keeping this tough schedule. It can only help.

In ESPN Charlie Creme’s Way Too-Early Top 25(29), pathetically, he doesn’t have one Mid-Major on the board. Here are some teams Drake might consider scheduling on Creme's list ranked 12-29. Indiana, Rice, Miami, BYU, Auburn, NC St, WVU, Arkansas, Michigan, DePaul, ASU, Minnesota, ND, UCLA, Texas, Mich. St., Kentucky
Would be another solid non-conference schedule, especially if you throw in Creighton, the Dakota teams, Iowa and Iowa State.

-Oklahoma has hired SWMS great (and Asst Coach for the Lady Bears for six years) Jackie Stiles as an Asst Coach. OU returns all five starters in 2019-20, including All-Big 12 Second Team selection Ana Llanusa and Big 12 All-Freshman honoree Taylor Robertson, and welcomes the nation’s No. 11-ranked recruiting class according to Prospects Nation.
2018-19 OU finished 8-22, 4-14 in conference.

Big 12 & ESPN+ signed a deal last month which should allow us to see both games on ESPN+.

The women's field at the Gulf Coast Showcase include Purdue (finished 8-10 in BIG10 including win over Iowa), Gonzaga (lost in second round of NCAA after going 29-5), Middle Tennessee State, Arizona State (Lost in the sweet 16 of NCAA) , Dayton, Maine, Auburn (finished in the middle of the Southeast conference) and Drake. Five of those teams played in the NCAA Tournament. The women's tournament will be Nov. 29-Dec. 1.

Non-conference schedule has been released on Facebook. While TV information or times wasn't officially announced, based off history & known conference TV deals there are some conclusions we can draw:
10/29 Central Missouri (Exhibition, likely no TV coverage) 11/3 Simpson (Exhibition, likely no TV coverage) 11/8 South Dakota State (ESPN+) 11/10 Iowa State (MC22/ESPN+) 11/13 at South Dakota (Likely their website streaming) 11/16 Creighton (ESPN+) 11/24 Western Illinois (ESPN+) 11/29-12/1 Gulf Coast Showcase (they have a streaming package) 12/5 Waldorf (ESPN+, likely the Character Counts game with an 11:00 AM tip) 12/17 at Oklahoma (ESPN+) 12/21 at Iowa (BTN+) 12/29 at Northern Illinois (ESPN+ probable)

Full schedule releasedConference schedule still using travel partners. Sadly we are opening the conference schedule at home against UNI before any students are back on campus even for J-Term. This game has brought great student attendance the last couple of years.
