Penn State just hired the Marquette women's coach. You have to think Jennie will be very high on Marquette's list of replacements. Besides being is a former assistant at Marquette, her husband is from Wisconsin. As an alum of both schools, I am torn. She has done a great job at Drake. But, if she leaves, I would love for her to end up at MU.

There's no way Jenny hasn't been approached for Power 5 jobs by now, to the point where I've kind of assumed she's gonna stay here until the Iowa job opens up. I think Marquette would be one of the few other schools that could potentially be an option for her besides Iowa, but I've really assumed it's all about the Iowa job.

Jennie's contract was extended in October 2018......highly doubt she's going anywhere for at least another couple of years.

Lots of coaches have signed contract extensions and then left within a matter of weeks.

MU insider now says Jennie is the candidate they are targeting. That said, I can see her staying at Drake. Her family is in Des Moines and that is a strong pull. She has a good thing going and has a built the preeminent power in the MVC. However, her husband's family is in Wisconsin. Plus, they probably met while she was at Marquette and got married while living in Milwaukee. So, it is not like they would be moving to an entirely new place. Money may be a factor. MU will probably pay her in the neighborhood of $500,000 per year, maybe a bit more (at least that is what they paid past women's coaches). I have to think that would be substantial increase over her salary at Drake. Can you pass up that financial opportunity? I am sure its going ton be a difficult decision for her.

Local paper reported that MU paid Teri Mitchell $500,000, the coach before CK. So, I have to assume that would be in the range of what they would be willing to pay.

Haven't bothered to go look up the contract, but the latest State of Iowa Public Employee database lists Bluder at over $900k. Could include a big chunk of bonus money, but way more than quoted above.

Jennie has more qualifications than the coach MU hired. Wonder if they reached out to her and Drake stepped up to keep Jennie? Otherwise Marquette made a less-than-best-hire.
