8/31 at North Dakota 9/7 TRUMAN STATE 9/14 SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 9/21 open? .+ 8 PFL games. Will Drake play 12 games? Harvard is looking for a home game on 10/5. Are Drake and the PFL flexible enough so the Bulldogs can accommodate Harvard?

It looks like Ferris State and Quincy has Sep 7 open and Missouri S&T, Quincy, and McKendree have Sep 21 open. I would prefer Harvard or another DI school, but my bet is we play one of these schools.

I wonder if Drake's affinity for scheduling D-II, Great Lakes Valley schools (e.g. Quincy, MST, Wm. Jewell, and McKendree) will continue under Hardin and the new HC.

There will be an off week in September. FCS schools can only schedule 11 games. The other non-conference game is still up in the air, and Drake goes to Marist to start the PFL on the 28th of September.

2019 has 13 weekends between Labor Day weekend and the weekend prior to Thanksgiving...so 12 games are permissible for FCS next season. Twelve games were not ok the year Fox put Southwest Baptist on the schedule, then had to reverse course the next day. FCS was last allowed 12 regular season games in 2014. Drake only played 11 that year. http://www.pioneer-football.org/standings/2014/

Changes could be coming to the 2019 schedule. PFL road games include Marist, Butler, San Diego, and Davidson.

I see that Marist and Stetson agreed to move their game from mid-Oct to Sept 14, formerly an open date for both. The game is now Marist's home opener. I wish D could do something similar. Have new students get their first look at Bulldog football v. a familliar name such as Valpo. Better than a 77-7 game...better than a Division II or NAIA game.

Big Week 1 games are absolutely wins for fans. A couple years ago the opening weekend across all of football saw multiple Top 25 matchups in week 1. Unfortunately it's usually to get coaches to go for it since they want 2-3 "easy" games to warm up and get the team fully developed before conference/better opponents.
Also worth noting the college football season starts Labor Day weekend and more students go home for Labor Day weekend than you might think. Thursday night opening night would be better for students.
Name recognition helps. The number of students who went to the Iowa State game was more than we've had at 80% of home games over the last 10 years.

This guy is transferring again. Rumored to be the next QB at South Dakota State.

Confirmed games Aug 31 @ North Dakota Sep 7 Truman State Sep 14 South Dakota State Sep 21 Sep 28 @ Marist Oct 5 Oct 12 @ Butler Oct 19 Oct 26 Morehead State Nov 2 @ San Diego Nov 9 Nov 23 @ Davidson (per above post) 2019 DRAKE FOOTBALL SCHEDULEValpo has games Oct 19 and Nov 9. Dayton plays Nov 9. Stetson plays Oct 5 and Nov 9. Jacksonville has all three dates open. My guess is we play Valpo at home Oct 5, Dayton at home Oct 19, and Jacksonville at home Nov 9. Stetson would be our bye since we need to fill 3 conference home games. We could have one more non-conference game or save it in case mother nature wants Drake to play Iowa State or Iowa. :D

Third game is at home v. South Dakota State. I hope the Rabbits aren't buying the game out to take a FBS paycheck. On the other hand, "50 thou (a year) will buy a lot of beer." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qrriKcwvlY

Last fall's D-II runner-up, Ferris State, has open dates 9/14 and 11/16. Our head coach is very familiar with them.
