ESPN College Gameday should come to watch mighty Griff. I assume D will give Lee Corso the Spike mascot head to wear?

If I'm not mistaken, Drake has won 4 in a row over Big 12 opponents. Obviously, that streak will end. Just hope nobody gets seriously hurt. Should be a great experience for the guys.
Kansas State (late 70s or early 80s), Colorado x 2 (early 80s) and Iowa State (1985?) are the last Big 12 opponents for DU, back when they played scholarship football.

Nebraska was scared to play back in the day. Oklahoma too. Maybe there can be a retro theme with players wearing mesh jerseys and big neck rolls, cheerleaders with sweaters and big hair. Entrance to the field could be done to Miami Vice. The possibilities are endless 20-17

As much as we would love to see that, we're also just as sure they've already booked Alabama-Georgia. Just thankful for the opportunity and privilege of our team playing this game. I was already planning on going to the Drake Men's Basketball Game at U.S. Bank Stadium, should be able to make both events although I might have to leave the football game early (and there won't be a need to stay anyway).

Hopefully Drake is getting at least a million to play this game.

Retiring "20-17" should not be done for less than 300k.

Probably another College Division regional bowl, the Pioneer Bowl. Drake lost to Tennessee State on 12-9-72.

That 1985 Drake-Iowa State game was apparently the result of a late scheduling change. I have an early-1980s media guide, with future D schedules. It shows Drake hosting Cornell University on that daye on '85. At the time, (Iowa native) Bob Blackman coached Cornell. Back in the 1950s, Blackman's Denver teams had played Drake. But Blackman had left Cornell by 82 or 83, and the Drake game fell through. It was fortuitous that Iowa State then stepped up with a paycheck... ...but I wonder if Drake will ever get another shot at an Ivy League team. ;-)

If it is legit, it is a very reckless decision by the Drake administration. I have a tough time grasping the rationale behind this move. I remember my mother once telling me that when she was a girl, and when she went to a scary (yes, that's the correct spelling) movie, she would sit there with her hands over her eyes and would peek out between her fingers. I have a feeling that this is what I might be doing, if I even watch the game.

The rationale behind the move is a very large paycheck and the chance for those kids to play a very good team in front of a crowd at least 10 times as large as what they are accustomed to.
P.S. How else would you spell “scary”?

+xMoney or no money.....dumb, dumb, dumb. Why do you say that? Obviously a game that Drake will lose badly, but that's a lot of money. Probably enough to pay a good portion of the coaching staff salaries for the season.

The average payout for these types of games against power 5 schools is about 4-5 hundred thousand dollars. There are schools getting a million to provide a victory for power 5 schools fairly regularly. what does it cost to field an FCS scholarship team. It seems like it might be profitable to go back to providing scholarships and schedule two or three of these games a year. The money might finance a pretty decent program.

I think the math was done on that decades ago. It doesn`t work.

67 - Do you know that the Bulldogs play ND State in 2020? That's a team Sagarin rates higher than Iowa State. Are you also oppossed to playing ND State?
