Lurking, any idea what we get paid on these upgrade games? Also sure I could find it but what is our average attendance? In the last 4-5 years what’s the biggest crowd we have had? Not counting like a UNI which I believe we have played at home. Have we ever been near 10 K ?

Football outdrew basketball as recently as 2014. 2017 attendance was officially 2,300...which, as mentioned elsewhere, is a bogus number. Drake has drawn over 7k for Grand View and (long ago) for San Diego. Would love to see that kind of turnout for this year's USD game. Drake will always draw better for Iowa teams with fans that will biy tix. We had over 10k for UNI. Bit we are not in UNI's weight class. And GV has no room for non-conference games. Morrningside would be a good draw. Winning the league (outright) would help attendance. Also, losing games by 70 is a buzzkill. Drake was getting pauchecks in the 70k range, last time I had good information. Could be slightly higher now from a ND State.

I found this link about what NDSU is paying UC-Davis, North Alabama, and D in 2018-2020. LINKLooks like 700K total to the 3 schools* so maybe the 2020 game will be a boon to the financial coffers for Griff and the gang. *Oddly, I have ties to all 3 of the schools above

Do we need those Montana and ND ass whippings? I’d probably say yes. That’s a lot of money. I actually thought we were pretty competitive against a very good Montana team for a half. As a guy who grew up in Des Moines I think Drake stadium is such a great place to unfortunately waste 2-4 k at a game. Don’t see any way to really change it with the people we play. No real rivalries. And it looks like we have a pretty good team this year.

No doubt ND State has deeper pockets than an Illinois State. However, I doubt D is getting the same money as UC Davis.

+x...I think Drake stadium is such a great place to unfortunately waste 2-4 k at a game. Don’t see any way to really change it with the people we play. No real rivalries. And it looks like we have a pretty good team this year. The proverbial rubber band for our attendance is pretty small. We could stretch it a little with the right opponents, but it's not going to get bigger. Drake football does not compete at the NCAA's highest level, unlike every other D sport. Drake's enrollment has declined considerably in the last 30 years... For a PFL game, 5k would be about as good as it gets.

A few answers, with the benefit of hindsight... 1. Does it matter that the Bulldogs can't or won't run the ball? Only if they wanted to win the league championship.3. Will Willie Cashmore become a college head coach someday? Don't know. But selfishly, I'd like Drake to keep him. Pass rushers and kick blockers were the best coached players on this year's team.6. With up to four games allowed for redshirts, how big a role will true freshmen have for Drake this season? Minimal, if any.7. Predicted attendance for the home game v. San Diego (early Nov)? Official attendance was 1,522.

1. Does it matter that the Bulldogs can't or won't run the ball? No 2. Is Drake a slave to paychecks when scheduling games? E.g. opener at North Dakota next year... Yes and we will be for the foreseeable future 4. Should Drake seek softer D-I opponents in September? SEMO? Georgetown? Black colleges? Going to be impossible to do for the foreseeable future 5. Does Drake have any interest in changing the PFL's financial aid model? Extremely doubt they do 6. With up to four games allowed for redshirts, how big a role will true freshmen have for Drake this season? I didn't pay too much attention, but a good thing. Would like to see this expanded to basketball in some regards. 7. Predicted attendance for the home game v. San Diego (early Nov)? Given the disastrous weather and home games for both Iowa & Iowa State 1500 was nice. 8. If the Bulldogs win the PFL, should they bid for a home playoff game? Home game for PFL champ extremely unlikely for the foreseeable future. I think Hardin would bid but we won't get it. 9. What percentage of current Bulldog players have student loans? I would be shocked if it's less than 80%. 10. The FCS team you would most like to see Drake play in Des Moines is Northern Iowa for no other reason than it would be the closest we would get to a full stadium even if 80% of the crowd was UNI fans.
