The Illini offer was from the last staff I believe. Kid can absolutely ball though, would be a great pick up for Drake. He’s on an unofficial this weekend.

Seeing whatever crowd might show up for a game against a D3 team isn't going to help.

Cowan attends DePaul College Prep, which was, up until a couple of years ago, Gordon Tech High School. Gordan Tech High School is the alma mater of Dennis Tufano!! Who's Dennis Tufano, you ask? Well, he's the co-founder and the original lead singer of "The Buckinghams!!" Say what? Don't You Care? Well, Lawdy Miss Clawdy, that's Kind Of A Drag!! Also, if you see Susan, tell her for me, Hey Baby, They're Playing Our Song.....Mercy, Mercy, Mercy!!!!
C'mon, you all knew something was eventually coming. It's not up there with the Marlon Brando tale of driving his motorcycle through the halls of Libertyville High School, but I just couldn't disappoint you by not having another great tid-bit of local high school trivia!!

Got to my 11:00 o'clock game about 10:30 this morning and I couldn't believe that the second half of the 9:30 game had not even started. Then I saw that it was DePaul Prep that was playing, and it hit me, holy cow, this is Perry Cowan's team, our offer for 2019. Well, let me just say this...IMO, at this point, he is a not ready for prime time player. He is a nice size and looks strong....a very nice b-ball body, but according to Rivals, he is only a two star, and I couldn't agree more. Granted he is only a junior, but he needs to sharpen his skills. Rivals has him as a 2-guard, but he is really playing a 3/4 right now, because he is the second tallest guy on the team (there are two guys taller, but one is a freshman who does not play). He had trouble close to the basket. He was 3 for 19 from the field today. His outside shot isn't too bad, but definitely does need work. He did look quick running the floor, though. Anyway, right now, the schools that have offered on Rivals' list are Drake, DePaul, UIC and Illinois (I believe PFMorrison said the Illinois offer was from the previous coaching staff). It will be interesting to see how he develops. I will see him again, tomorrow against Stevenson. Both teams won this morning and will square off tomorrow in the winners' bracket. Darth, if you get off work early, go across the street for the game. Game time is 3:45.

With Stevenson having only one player taller than 6'3", and their 6th/7th man only a 5'7" freshman, I suspect that at 6'4", Perry should have a better showing today, as far as points, rebounds and even a blocked shot or two. Stay tuned. If not, then I have only one question....based on our current roster and the number of recruits coming in next year, it looks like we will have only 3 seniors on the team next year; does that mean that there will only be 3 openings for 2019 scholies (forgetting possible guys leaving, red-shirts, etc.)? I hope that we get on that 2019 train shortly after the season. By the way, Darth, from my place to your place is quite a haul...I'm thinking of packing a lunch before I leave today. I should be home shortly before the start of the 'Dogs' game tonight.

Today's game, 12/29/17. 28 minutes: 3 for 14 from the floor 1 for 3 from three 2 for 2 from the line 3 TO Don't know what to tell you. I know I am spoiled from the past few years after watching four years of Jalen Brunson, Connor Cashaw, Milik Yarbrough, Admiral Schofield, Evan Beaudreaux and a number of other guys, but when they were juniors, it was lights out compared to Perry. No offense meant, but I think from the numbers alone, you can tell that there is a long way to go.

This sounds much more encouraging : 27 points, on 9 for 18 from the floor, and 8 rebounds, in a 59-52 win over a good Evanston (14-4) team. "Controlled and dominant game." Sun-Times.

FYI....Cowan's coach at DePaul Prep is DePaul University former All-American (honorable mention), Tom Kleinschmidt, for those of you who may remember him. He went to high school at Gordon Tech, which is now DePaul Prep, so he is coaching at his high school alma-mater.

Committed to Brown (in the spring, actually). Kind of a surprise, since the word on the street was it looked like DePaul was the front runner. I wonder if DD was continuing to pursue him, once he started going after Hernandez and Arop. Kind of doubt it.
