Okay DUB, since basketball season is just around the corner, it is time to turn to more positive developments -- the Cubs off-season. Will Epstein go after Pujols, an easier target now that LaRussa is retiring perhaps, or Fielder, the kind of 20-something big bat that Epstein loved to sign in Boston?

Pujols wants a 10 year contract, an extremely risky move for any team, considering his age. As great as Pujols is, I wouldn't want the Cubs to give him that kind of contract.

The latest talk is Pujols will stay in St. Louis. I can't believe anyone would do a 10-year deal for a 32 year old.

I actually would just be as concerned about Fielder in a long term deal. He reminds me of a better Mo Vaughn... with how hard he swings I'd be worried that he could break down insanely fast in his mid 30's. I think Pujols' swing will translate when he's older but would be real worried about how his feet and elbow would hold up. Really, just seems like 10 years for either is an insane risk to take.

I think my Angels may have lost their minds. Ten years and $210 million to Pujols. Sounds like Moreno is sick and tired of losing out on free agents like Texiera, Crawford, etc. The talk is the Cubs may still be in the bidding, but the Marlins are not. I think StL is stuck on nine years. The Angels went to ten because they figure they can always DH him when he's ready for the wheel chair.

Maybe the Angels should have invested in some pitchers. The Twins didn't score in the first seven innings for the entire series vs the Orioles, but somehow scored plenty against the Angels to win the series.

You can't be in the abyss for the Angels, are you Gordon?

No abyss for me. Pitching has been awful to start the year, Pujols is off to a slow start. No big though. I've seen the Angels get off to slow starts a lot. If they can be about .500 in April all is good.
