These are my choices, based on observation and, of course, personal bias. (discuss)OffenseQB Ira Vandever (2002)—set many passing records; scrambling ability countered quick pass rushers.RB Scott Phaydavong (2007)—best numbers of any DU running back, ever.RB Jonathan Taylor (2003)—set single-season school rushing record the year before Scotty P. arrived.OL Sean Coughlin (2000)—multiple year All-PFL first team; went on to coach Grant Knowles and other Bulldog linemen in ’03. Now he’s an assistant coach at Missouri State.OL Grant Knowles (2004)—Road Paver of the Stars. Where is he now?OL Matt Haas (2006)—I remember someone saying he was kinda light. Then he went on to be first-team All-PFL.OL Dave Pammer (2007)—Played every position on the line and played them well.OL Mark Wilke (2005)—Three time All-PFL.TE Dan Marx (2007)—the two guys who preceded him (Seaman, Mickley) got more press. Marx was bigger & badder.WR Aaron Overton (2002)--Vandever's deep threat receiver also returned kicks. Got a quick look from the NFL Titans.WR Jason Jones (2005)—Once in Overton’s shadow; might have been better than Overton by the time he left.DefenseDL Mike Foster (2000)—Pass rushing technique made him hard to block.DL Kevin Jennings (2006)—Possibly the most athletic BIG guy at Drake during the Rob Ash years. (Shawn Rodgers was not a big guy.)DL Chris Daniels (2005)—Always fought like a Bulldog for victory. Not as good a wrestler as he thought he was… :hehe:DL Andrew Asbell (2008)—Fought the law, and the law won. I hope he comes back next fall.LB Frank Seamer (2001)—If I were a total homer, I’d pick fellow Kansas Citian Jimmy Adams. But Seamer was a remarkable athlete—probably the fastest linebacker I’ve seen at Drake in the last 30 years.LB Ben Morrison (2009)—Led the league in tackles his first season in the lineup. Pretty much guaranteed to be in the highlight film.LB Cale Hunt (2009)—First team all-league, and he was better before he messed up his arm.DB Cederic Stanley (2001)—Good coverage guy.DB Desmond Carr (2002)—If he hadn’t done anything else, I would consider him solely for his performance in the 2001 Dayton game. He almost pulled that one out for DU singlehandedly. DB Andy Green (2008)—The word “playmaker” comes to mind.DB Jacob Craig (2007)—He liked to run into people really, really hard.KickersPK Billy Cundiff (2001)—holds records with Drake, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Baltimore Ravens.P Ryan Horvath (2005)—Based on consistency, I give him the nod over Brandon Wubs.

I like your defensive picks. Looking forward to watching Asbell and Morrison again.

I'd have to go back and look at a few rosters to be sure I wasn't missing some nominees, but your list is a fine one. Can't really argue with any or your picks (but I'm about to).

Leaving off Eric Papp is an oversight, IMO. He was tough as nails and got the job done. I remember an early season game against William Penn one year. On a WP punt the bullet guy went down and nailed Alan Usin (sp?), thought that isn't much of a challenge when he was still looking up at the ball 20 feet over his head when he got hit. I think he ended up w/ a concussion on that play. In any event the next punt Papp was out on the bullet guy and he barely made it 8 yards from the line of scrimmage. I saw an official say something to Papp after the play, but there weren't any flags.

There have been a bunch of pretty good o-line candidates through the years. Several more come to mind, though I don't know who I'd drop from your list.

Forgot to add Clayberg and (possibly) Warner.  Having the latter would be tough since he is sandwiched between decades but I believe he probably deserves some consideration. Doran had 20 tds combined in his last two years I think.  Nick Rosa also comes to mind as well as Coleman who had some good sack numbers if I remember correctly.

How appropriate that we're looking back at the team's best players, as recruiting commitments are ramping up.  It all starts with recruiting.

Drake had some challenges during the teens, as teams from the Dakotas' four biggest state universities finished their journey from Division II to fully-funded FCS.  In recruiting, they not only gained D-I prestige, but also a collective 100 extra scholarship equivalencies.  As those schools starting winning more recruiting battles in the Midwest, Drake branched out to other areas of the country.  Getting more assistant coaches involved in recruiting has certainly helped.

My 2010-2019 picks:

Offense
QB Mike Piatkowski (2011) --Although at times outshined by his successors, Andy Rice and Grant Kraemer, Piatkowski is the obvious choice. He was a three-year starter who finished as Drake's record holder in both season and career passing yards.
RB Steve Platek (2010) --Recruited as a quarterback, he became a starting linebacker, then a J-Back in Chris Creighton's offense. He excelled at every position he played, and was voted team MVP his Junior season.
RB Drew Lauer (2019) --Overcame injuries to put it all together in his final year: 1,127 rushing yards and 233 receiving yards. Edged out his predecessor, Conley Wilkins.
OL Evan Lawrence (2010) --Two time All-PFL 1st teamer at right tackle.
OL Ryan Lemke (2017) --Started over two seasons. 1st Team All-PFL as a Senior.
OL Payson Wick (2017) --Started almost three seasons. Final season earned 1st Team all league. Honorable mention to Troy Witmer (2014).
OL Avery Fuhs (2012) 1st team All-PFL as a guard. 1st team All-Hair Team as a tackle and guard.
OL Aaron Melton-- (2016) After starting a season at guard, he missed a year due to injury. He then returned as a center, and was 1st team All-PFL.
TE Eric Saubert (2016) --Created matchup nightmares for every opponent. Drafted by the NFL Falcons.
WR Devin Cates (2019) --Mostly a wideout at Drake, before switching to tight end his final year. Another mismatch creator, Devin's pass catching skills improved over his last dozen games.
WR Steven Doran (2019) --FCS top-ten in touchdowns scored during his Junior year.

Defense
DL Dain Taylor (2010)--2nd team FCS All-American. 27.5 career sacks.
DL Matt Acree--(2014) Four year starter. 1st team All-PFL as a Senior.
DL Nathan Clayberg (2018) --PFL Defensive Player of the Year.
DL Mack Marrin (2014)--1st Team all league as a Sophmore. He missed many games with injuries. Otherwise, he was a four-year starter.
LB Tyler Moorehead (2012)--PFL Defensive Player of the Year.
LB John Hugunin (2015)--Led the league in tackles his Senior year (113).
LB Kieran Sierra (2018)--Led the 2018 team in tackles. Sealed his place on this list with big plays in the Iowa State game. Honorable mention to teammate Zac Rujawitz, who (like Lauer) was a St. Louis area recruit who had a big finish.
DB Michael Lahart (2011) --Began as a running back, then became one of the best corners in Drake's nonscholarship era. Great on special teams. Great student.
DB Sean Lynch (2018)--Started over two seasons. 1st team All-PFL as a Junior. Honorable mention: Mike Ratelle (2011).
DB Will Warner--Although he won't finish until the next decade, he makes the team for his All-America season in 2018.
DB Jabari Butler (2018)--1st team All-PFL. Best coverage cornerback during his years at Drake.

Kickers
PK Josh Lee (2016) PFL Special Teams Player of the Year.
P Cam Bohnert (2014) Averaged nearly 40 yards per kick during his Junior year.

Like your list couple thoughts I had while reading and looking up stats:

Dain Taylor was a monster has a legit argument to be in both decades
I personally think Conley was better (not by much) to Lauer but I would give Lauer benefit of doubt.  Unfortunately, I do not think either of those guys are close to what we had in 2000s even though football philosophy has changed greatly in the last 20 years
Just for fun I would name Chris Creighton as Coach of Decade obvious choice.

Looking back at the talent we had it is a shame that we could not capitalize and win a league title; I am not one for moral victories but the game against ISU was about as close as it gets and it was nice to see the fellas perform, and I would probably name that the game of the decade (recency bias of course)

Some people I mentioned were late bloomers because of injuries-- or in Cosmo's case, because he played two years at other schools.

Nick Rosa needs to be considered at WR. Also, Mike Ratelle at DB along with Brandon Coleman at DL.

Rosa, if for nothing more, than this memorable hit.....
