Twas the night before Conference
And all around Drake
Not a creature was stirring
This long Winter Break
Drake Nation gathered
For its holiday party
Hoosier with popcorn
While Pub brought Bacardi
The Drake Basketball Podcast
Was streaming online
Veeny listened intently
While Neutron drank wine
Hamlox lit Menorahs
Tinsel strung by '53
BRFDawg daydreamed
Of rebounds and 3s
2323 led caroling
Distance spread some good cheer
SoCal was loving Kwanzaa
Urby was primed for new year
DawgTired dressed as Santa
Lurking sipped the champagne
DUB regaled us with stats
Ghost played with the train
Griff was busy napping
In his bed on the floor
When he was suddenly awakened
By a knock on the door
TrueBlue quickly hustled
To open storm door and screen
Then to his surprise
He saw folks dressed in green
They traveled a long way
From the state just below
Happy to be with us
They shouted hello
They spoke of efficiency
And style hard to believe
TinyTyke was giddy
For this gift Conference Eve
St Mac from The 'Ville
Would bring his elves to wear blue
Plus enlist a few others
To join the loyal Drake two
A squad was quickly assembled
And better than would seem
So all was not lost
For Des Moines' Hometown Team
Lawdog was anxious
Of games that could scare
Optimist guessed 5 losses
Drakey called him a lair
Colonial predicted wins
Over the Braves and the Sycs
The Panthers and Bruins?
Drake would still be his picks
Now Knappdog, now Illinois
Now Zman, now SoSublime
On MN, on Tennis
On OldDog and Lime
We toasted the memories
Of those up above
Our friends in the great skybox
Watching the Bulldogs they love
The fire started dying
So we threw on the last log
Excited for '25
Cuz it's the Year of The Dog

Oddly, it is one of those the rare nights before Christmas and Hanukkah. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all. May the Bulldogs finish 2024 with similar perfection to Darth's poetry in posting.
Since 1900, the first night of Hanukkah has fallen on December 25 five times: 1910, 1921, 1959, 2005, and now 2024. Speaking of 25, may we see the 'Dogs dance and advance in 2025!
