Seems like a good hire. Interesting that Drake can poach from SLU in tennis. Also surprised a school with SLU’s $ didn’t have separate coaches.

About as good of a hire as Drake can expect for tennis, I think! No prior NCAA tournament success, but any coach with NCAA tournament success consistently is staying at their school or getting scooped up by a bigger school. Upsets rarely happen in tennis, so "success" for small schools is legit just... getting there.

D1 tennis coaching is weird though, as I follow an Instagram account that shared news on what coaches are going where, and multiple times this year I've seen a successful D1 head coach at a smaller school go be an associate head coach at a bigger school. VCU's head coach hopped over to be the Florida Gators associate head coach, for example.
Just weird out there. And yes, I understand that the Gators are perennial title contenders.

SLU has been a bad tennis program for a long time. Definitely an upgrade for the coach to come to Drake. Tennis all comes down to foreign recruiting connections. I hope he has some.

Can't even get a P5 coach? Another Hardin failure.
