+x+xMy guess is that it was Hardin's first call. they'll never say it, but it sure seems like Hardin must have reached out when SMS was trying to get him supposedly MSU told Coach Mac's agent prior to 3/23 they were going in a different direction. wonder how much that was spin after being turned down vs. reality

McCollum was my 1a to Marty 1b, so I mostly just sat quietly on Twitter while y'all pestered Hardin about Marty but... I'm pretty stoked about this.
His reputation among the coaching world, regardless of Division, seems to be great which makes me feel good about his ability to find an assistant or two who knows the portal + NIL.
Once he has that... Let. Him. Cook.

From a guy on the Valley board who is usually relatively in the know about MSU: i don't think we failed to snag McCollum, I've been told we pulled out after hearing his requests . I was told we let him know he was no longer under consideration following such. Doesn't really matter, people will speculate, but that's why Mo St is so quiet in their searches, neither coach or university want to be perceived as being turned down. Not a single name was ever offered by the school as a target of interest
