Butler signed five FCS transfers, including a quarterback from Dartmouth who was the Josh Allen of the Ivy League.

St. Thomas got a commitment from Derby (Kan.)  H.S. running back Derek Hubbard.  Derby is not an obscure program:  they are in the 6A state championship game nearly every year, and this guy is a little Phaydavong-style rocket.  Morehead State also recruited him. Drake, not so much.

You'll hear a lot about him in the coming years.

DC lost their last two games last year 92-31 to Morehead and Dayton (combined 5-11 in the league).
I guess I'd get new helmets, too.

Thursday results - Morehead beat Central State (Ohio) 17-10. Presbyterian lost to former PFL member Mercer, 63-10. St. Thomas got rocked by Sioux Falls, 34-13.

Davidson stumbled out of the gate v. Georgetown:  fumbled kickoff...bad snap...gave up a safety...ensuing kickoff out of bounds...

They were quickly down 5-0.  They' have to finish strong to get a win.

Davidson and St. Thomas were both overmatched against not-so-great teams in Week 0.

Dayton and San Diego both had home wins today against FCS scholarship teams.  That's scheduling done right.

Nick Howard ran an excellent two minute drill, leading Butler to a 19-17 win over the MVFC's newest member, Murray State.

UNI got a scare from St. Thomas, but got a fourth quarter score to win in Minnesota.

St. Francis, the NEC team that Dayton defeated last week, beat Kent State today.

The PFL has talent this year.

I just watched his predecessor at Derby run back a kick for a Kansas State TD.  I had nightmares of Hubbard doing that to the Bulldogs.

Butler made it look easy against Morehead St. today.

Dayton beat Davidson, to remain undefeated in PFL play.  The Flyers play at Butler next week.

Dayton with the win at Butler. Bummer that that game isn't on the schedule this year. That would be a great one in November.

Also, St. Thomas remained unbeaten in PFL play with a victory over Valpo.

Still big games to play.  Drake will need an outright championship to get back to the playoffs this year.  Based on our relatively weak PFL schedule, I don't think we'd win the tiebreaker.
