Has anyone else noticed that there is a new player, Bennett Fried 6’7” F from LaCrosse, Wisc. On the roster?- anyone know anything about him? I hate to ask this, but is anyone missing from the previous roster?

Must be a walk on. Skinny but looks pretty good. No offers that I can find out of high school.
Moving forward.....

That's a lot of players I'll move this to the recruiting board.

I didn't get a response but I think he was a D2/D3 type kid, good size and could be a nice project long term.

I'm not gonna lie....Fried and Bath look a lot better than some of the scholarship big men Giacoletti used to bring in.

Made state track meet in 4 events (long jump, triple jump, 4 x 100 and 4 x 200) With his size and athleticism, certainly some potential there. Maybe a scholarship down the road. Wonder the same thing about Bath

Looked at some videos. He's flat out good. At least he was a year ago.

After the success with Sturz I welcome any recruited walk on. Sturz was a baller like no other in my 55 years of Drake basketball. Just made us better. It’s too bad we didn’t have him for the Miami game.

I will never understand how Sturtz apparently had no offers at all. I get why D1 schools weren’t offering out of high school, but his high school stats were nuts and yet he couldn’t get any D2 offers, just interest.

You’re right Kwiecinski was a scholarship player not a walk on.

He may have had his heart set on D1. I can understand that, especially with the honors he carried from h.s. Many coaches have a recruiting system that can overlook the "X" factor in talent measurement. They can't see the potential value he can have as he fits into a system with 4 other guys playing together. It goes beyond individual stats. Besides Sturtz, another great example of it in Drake history: Adam Emmenecker. It wasn't till hist senior year that he actually got on the court, for Pete's sake. Dr. Tom wasn't even able to expose Em's value to the team.
