Fighting Hawks went 7-5 and lost to Weber State in the first round of the FCS playoffs last year.
Their last two games in Grand Forks were 47-7 and 38-0. Massey has it at 44-6. I haven’t seen a spread, but I imagine it would be right around 38.

If Drake could draw 5k per game (a bit less than what St. Thomas draws), they wouldn't "need" to get these paychecks**. As it is, they can't get that many fans because they get into an early season hole playing the paycheck games. Vicious cycle. **5,000 x 5 home games @$15 per ticket = $375,000. Drake averaged 2,126 per home game last season.

On the bright side, Drake football is taking adventures. They will play two places where most Americans will never visit: Panama and North Dakota.

How did Drake not challenge that Dakota catch in the final seconds of the first half?
Both teams left points on the field. Bailey has a nice arm.

Another call that I believe should have been reversed. That being said, ND steam rolling down the field. 28-0 very early in the third.

+xI only caught parts of the first half while doing some housework. Any injuries? None have been announced. The missed field goal, fumbled handoff, and dropped open pass on three promising drives in the first half cost the Dogs points. First half defense looked solid only giving up 14 points, but looked like a totally different squad in the second half when giving up 27 points in the third quarter. After the 0-0 first quarter I would have never guessed the Fighting Hawks would put up 55 points.

Is where I always get worried is the damn 3rd quarter. So many of these games against teams like North Dakota go bad in the damn 3rd quarter. We'll, lesson learned. Onto Northwestern!
