Former Bulldog player and assistant Ben Lott is the new mens coach.
His wife was the women's head coach for a little bit.

Not nearly as much experience as I would have expected, as there are Drake MTEN alums with more coaching experience in McKie and Goodman and Frost, but Lott was the highest ranked player of that bunch so hopefully he can translate it into head coaching!

Tried looking him up Tennis and haven’t found much since he left Drake. He was at Tulsa I saw. Anywhere else? Let’s hope he has some recruiting connections.

I'm pretty sure he was the head pro at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club.

Ben was always a nice guy when I chatted with him, so I feel a bit bad for saying this but... I don't feel like he was our #1 choice? Just based on lack of experience.

I think Drake being stuck in the rag tag Summit League really hurts us in terms of the appeal to folks with no Drake connection. Back when the MVC existed for mens tennis, it wasn't a good conference by any means but it was more legit than the Summit. 

Obviously hope he kills it, I just have no idea what to expect one way or another due to sample size!

Agree. While we are a respected program and play a great non con schedule this honestly isn’t even a league for tennis.

The more I read the more I like.  Even if he possibly wasn't the number 1 choice because of some inexperience.  The guy looks to bleed bulldog blue and that's probably more important than anything, especially in a sport like this.  Also think he's got a little more recruiting connections than I thought.  I like it!

Any way we could get in the A10 for tennis?

The Minnesota men's program folded, Iowa's folded, can't we just take their spot in the Big Ten pleeeeeeaaaaase. We already play a handful of B1G teams each year and are competitive.

Damn. Did not realize Minnesota had dropping men’s tennis. They were a solid program. Honestly not sure where we could go. A-10 isn’t a great tennis league and neither is the Big East. We’re in a tough spot.
