The 2023 Drake Relays kickoff Sunday, April 23 at 7:30am with the road races and conclude Saturday, April 29. Beautiful Bulldog Contest is Monday and a new special throwing event will take place in the Drake Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening. Ryan Crouser the two time Olympic champion and world indoor and outdoor record holder is trying to better both his indoor and outdoor records at Drake this week with the new throwing event. Isaac Basten who finished second place in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships leads a Drake Bulldog team with a few potential champions.

Also, street painting is this weekend, the 80/35 Festival will have bands outside the stadium next Saturday afternoon, and food truck vendors will be on Forest during the week.

Kind of a bummer that the shot put competition last night meant no pole vault in the mall / downtown. 

Also, does anyone know what events / when Isaac Basten is running?
Only a couple events where I think a Drake athlete has a chance of winning, and whatever he is running would be one of 'em. I think I saw him in the 800m for Saturday, but figured he'd be running the mile at some point too.

Baston is in the invite 800 meter. Heard a rumor prior to relays Drake was either going to stack the 4×1600 or Distance Medley, but have not seen Drake entries declared in either. He also paced the invite Grand Blue Mile. 

Former Bulldog Adam Fogg is in the invite 1500 meter. 

Drake's Brooke Mullins won the women's Steeplechase in today's evening session. Spike also won the mascot race at the Grand Blue Mile. 

Drake also has a chance is a few field events.

I thought Basten was running the university 800, so when I saw it was the informational field I figured he might get left in the dust. Aaaaaand he did.
Not his main event, so no biggie but I kinda hate seeing Drake shirts in the back of the pack on another event.
