Who you got in a match-up between the 07-08 squad vs. the 22-23 team? I'm favoring the 07-08 Island of the Misfit Toys team. Josh Young being the difference maker. Match-up between Emmenecker and Penn would be epic!

Both very good teams, but 07-08 team was ranked almost the entire season, and ended up as a 5 seed.  I'd probably have to go with the 07-08 team

Both with heartbreaking losses in the NCAA tourney.

Got to go with 07-08.   Leonard's dunk at Butler was a play I will never forget.

I'm going with the 07-08 team for the reasons stated by PubGuy. But I also agree with Urby that 22-23 had the better coach.

I’d take the 22-23 team to have a late lead but give it up at the end. Both very good teams with 22-23 having better coaches. But 07-08 was ranked!

That's a tough call, but I'd take 07/08 because of too much firepower on offense. I think Wilkins would shut down Young because of his size. Penn and Emmenecker is close with I think an edge going to Penn. But, I think Bucky Cox would be an enormous problem. Krikke and Cox are similar players with Cox having a much better team around him. DeVries is good, but I think Korver and Houston would figure enough of that out to pull it out.

7-8. Better team Cox way better offensive player than Brodie Sturtz was certainly unique but no match athletically for Houston and 3 guys who could knock down the 3 consistently. cox. Korver. Houston and Parker off the bench. Not close in my mind Now if Keno had full court pressure on that last play they don’t have time to get that play off Would have wasted a second or 2

Careful, you can't say anything negative about the current team/coach....But I agree, lol.

Probably.  That team ( like all Dr Tom & I guess I'll include Keno since he did coach them) could go on runs like no other teams w/their press and 3 point shooting.  Just such a odd story of misfit guys, Bucky Cox, Emmenecker, the point guard who could only shoot layups, Houston who never played until basically his final year.  Super heady and actually way more talented pt guard than he ever got credit for plus 4 guys who could shoot it from anywhere and everywhere.  And then throw in the fact that really nobody in the country played like them, so they were really hard to prepare for.  

My memory may be a bit fuzzy but why Keno didn't post a tall player on the the Western Kentucky in-bounds pass, I don't know.  I guess that falls into the "why we didn't press" category.  Certainly would have eaten time that may have not allowed that shot at the end (although that was one incredibly lucky shot!).

Agree that Devries has the edge over Keno. I'm a giant DeVries fan, but also a Keno defender. A lot of people say the 07-08 team was self-coached, but even if that is true it takes a smart man to put ego aside and let that happen. The matchups in this game would be fun to watch. Emmenecker and Penn in particular. Would ultimately come down to who could run their team better. I think Houston would be able to slow down Tucker more than DJ could slow down JY. The Sturtz-Korver matchup would be interesting. I think I give the edge to Sturtz, but not even sure what that would look like. I give Cox the edge over Brodie, but if it is the Brodie from the end of this season it gets really interesting (please let that Brodie carry over to next season!). Cox might struggle with Brodie in the post, but you have Heemskerk to come in and lean on him a bit.

 Whatcha say 07-08?!?! Take a couple of minutes to stretch and will jump it up at the Bell Center at Noon!

Just my opinion but I think the best team Devries has was the 20-21. If not for Roman and Tank not having those injuries. That team was a legit Sweet 16 team or better. That's what the analyst were saying before the injuries. The only time they lost games was without a full roster. JMO

Agreed. The FAU of 20-21.

Kind of the same with DeVries' first team....went into post-season without Norton, McGlynn and Wilkins. Norton missed entire conference season.   But, I would give the edge to the 2020-21 team of all of DD's teams.

I actually I think the 22-23 team had the biggest upside. They just didn't click until late in the season and then they had that slow ball disaster tendency. Fix the later and we'd be talking about the greatest Drake team since the 69 team. If Tucker can get some off-the-ball consistency in setting up shots, then next years team might the truly amazing.
