Will update this multiple times over the next couple of months. But, as of now, here's the roster. I hope I got everybody's eligibility year correct....hard to keep track with redshirts + COVID year. Not listing the walk-ons.
Bigs:
Darnell Brodie (Sr.) Nate Ferguson (Jr) Eric Northweather (Jr)
Wings:
Tucker DeVries (Jr) Chico Johnson (Fr) Kevin Overton (Fr)
Point Guard:
Conor Enright (Soph)

Start of a good team. A lot of work to be done.

I know we’re in the same boat as a lot of teams but to be sitting at 7 players and needing to add another 6 is just so odd. Man it has to be tough on the coaches to try and keep track of the portal and who is really an option plus a good fit.

There's about 800 in the portal now, but you know there's going to be several hundred more. As a coach, do you wait to see who all is available, or do you just try to get guys as soon as you can? I think it's a little of both...just a fine line the coaches have to navigate.

Most players in the portal are either looking for playing time, trying to move to a P5 or realizing they aren't D1 players. I don't think you can take 7 transfers unless a few are one year players and the others are willing to sit on the bench a year in hopes of playing the next year. I would think maybe you have to get some D2 guys who might be willing to redshirt along with the players you need right now.

I could look it up but I’m sure DUBulldog would be much better at it, but we know we only had 2 players when DeVries got here. We got Norton who I believe was a grad transfer, the 2 Murphy’s, Wilkins, but I honestly don’t remember who else. Murphy’s and Wilkins were Juco’s. There’s 70 or so power 5 teams counting the Big East, and maybe on average 3-4 spots available for those teams. Only so many guys move up to Power 5 or 6 now. There’s tons of good players available. Also guessing we might grab another late high school signee.

They signed Gray as a freshman but he wound up redshirting and never played here. They had another walk-on (Vaske) who never played before leaving.
Gholson and Jones were returning walk-ons. Pilopovic, Thomas, and McGlynn were the only returning scholarship players.

Something we forget about is I'm pretty sure Sturtz committed before the coaching change. He's a Niko guy.

Do we know for certain that Brodie has been granted an extra year of eligibility?

Do we have any deep reserves on the roster that have a future at Drake?

Northweather has a good stroke. If he starts hitting, he could be dangerous as a pick and pop guy.
Otherwise, not really.

I think they'll get an experienced point guard transfer. I see Conor as more of a combo guard. DD has shown a preference for the controlled, field general type of point guard.

I think Djamgouz isn't 100% certainty he will go unless he finds a really good place to land. I could see him not liking the offers he gets and returning as I think he'll play a lot more next year.
