It is obvious that Drake will make some post-season tournament.
Obviously, the goal is to win 3 games in St Louis and go to the NCAA tourney.
It sounds like Drake has a decent chance of making the NIT if they don't win the MVC tournament.
In the worst case scenario, if they don't make the NCAA or NIT, do you think they would/should accept a bid to either the CBI or CIT? I think DD would leave it up to the players, especially the seniors, to make the decision.

Heard a rumor there is no CIT/TBC being held this year, but have not seen anything official from the CIT/TBC to confirm it. Also, believe Drake will accept any bid offered with the obvious goal of winning Arch Madness.

A NIT 3 seed is not comfortable. If there are a lot of conference tournament winners that aren’t regular season champs 3 seeds will be in trouble.

As I’ve said more than once this season, I’m okay with passing on CBI especially if it’s going to remain in Daytona Beach which it apparently will for the foreseeable future. If the CIT/TBC happens and we can get more games at the Knapp, take it.

If the CIT/TBC happens and we can get more games at the Knapp, take it. The CBI remained in Daytona Beach because the teams preferred it that way. It is a bonus trip with extra games around spring break on the beach. I could see the CBI potentially expanding to 32 teams in the future (like the NIT did) with the Final Four in Daytona Beach if there is no 4th tournament going forward. Before the NIT expanded to 32 teams all rounds were played in New York. Once the NIT expanded teams began to host early rounds.

+xA NIT 3 seed is not comfortable. If there are a lot of conference tournament winners that aren’t regular season champs 3 seeds will be in trouble. In the NIT on average about 1/3rd of the bids are conference #1 seeds, about 1/3rd are Power 5 schools at large, and about 1/3rd are the other 27 conferences at large. This year it looks like NETs around 70 to 75 will be the NIT bubble for mid-majors. If we do not win Arch Madness and truly finish as a top 3 NIT seed in the projections, we should be safe, but I am not sure that will be the case if we do not win Arch Madness.

I wonder if Drake’s obligation to host the NCAA games at Wells Fargo Arena would interfere with Drake’s appetite to hosting any potential postseason games for its own MBB team. Dunno how that all works.
I know teams pass up NIT home games for stadium renovations (which I guess could be in play here too)

Yeah as much as I’d like to see this team play more, I agree it’s NCAA/NIT or nothing. It will be a huge disappointment if it ends up being nothing, but they’re better than CBI/CIT whatever one still exists

Keep in mind that any additional games will help Sturtz in his race for most consecutive games played in NCAA history :)
I think he’s neck and neck with a guy from Liberty?

NIT would be on the road.

Drake did the conference a great service by ensuring Bradley a place in the NIT. Now it's NCAA or bust for the Bulldogs. I'm not worried. This is the Golden Age of Drake basketball, or so I'm told.

+xKeep in mind that any additional games will help Sturtz in his race for most consecutive games played in NCAA history :) I think he’s neck and neck with a guy from Liberty? +1 The rumor on the street is the team wants to play as long as they can in whichever postseason tournament they are selected. Obviously, the bigger the better. If true it is refreshing to hear in the generation of athletes that op out of bowl games or tournaments. The system is stacked against mid-majors. A mid-major could go 33-1 with the one loss being in their conference final and still end up in the CBI. Also, keep in mind Power 5 teams may play in the CBI for the first time since Covid, so the field may be different than last year. Georgia is in most CBI projections (and it is believe they would accept). Boston College is also in the mix.

They could not be a conference regular season champion either, but my point is still valid.

I see no reason to play in anything but the NCAA or NIT. We have played like crap in those other things when we entered them before.

Templon still has us at a 4 seed in the NIT, now playing Colorado. Templon March 1 NIT BracketologyThe Barking Crow is still assuming we defeat Bradley in the final and has Bradley as a 4 seed vs. Vanderbilt. Barking Crow NIT BracketologyDRatings has us as a 5 seed in the NIT potentially ppaying Santa Clara.
