Did anyone go? Saw they had a nice crowd for an exhibition. Be interested in thoughts on the arena.

I was there. Yes - crowd was much better than I expected for sure. Arena looks great! The Courtside lounges are just simple tables, but it’s a nice touch. There are tables with two chairs in the corners and the chairs look tacky as they are black and white but other than that - the lower bowl looks great.
They also added in some new lighting I believe and the blue lights before and after games are really neat. The lower bowl seating (we were in 103) is very comfortable.

You do still have to pay for beer but supposedly you get to be in a priority line.

That makes sense. Courtside Club was closed today- so probably why no one bought a spot at those tables.
I have a question - for season ticket holders, do they get into the Courtside Club with the ability to eat pregame?

Not sure at the women's games. At the men's games, you have to donate a certain amount per year to get in....not sure how much that is. I'm guessing it's probably the same at the women's games.

Gotcha - in the season ticket holder email it mentioned that STH's were allowed into the CC an hour prior to the game, but was unsure if that was just for seating or for eating.

Honestly, the team looked about like you would expect it to against inferior competition.
I'd say that I have two real takeaways: Anna Miller looked really good off the bench and I suspect she'll get starter minutes this year (20-25). And the team really put in an effort on the offensive boards which I believe will win them some games this year.
Taylor McAulay looked solid in her return to action and the freshmen are not ready to play minutes in meaningful games this year.
Probably looking at a 8-9 man rotation this season with Iiams and Phipps probably getting some spot minutes for rest. Although Iiams did look excellent in her time.
The three freshmen (Hawthorne, Grey, Nilges) just looked like they had not adjusted to the speed yet of the college game and were just a bit timid. Hopefully, they will be able to get some run in some early-season contests.

With how difficult our non-conference schedule is, I doubt anyone who isn't expected to be a starter/significant contributor this year will get playing time barring unexpected blowouts.

I believe Nilges is a sophomore and not a real strong freshman class this year. Hope I’m wrong

Hawthorne is going to be really good but just needs to get up to speed. She'll be a starter next year at one of the guard spots.

Green Bay has kind of owned us during the years. So certainly a good start to the season.

If you're planning to go to the Iowa game on Sunday and don't have tickets yet, get them quick. All reserved seating is already sold out.

+xGreen Bay has kind of owned us during the years. So certainly a good start to the season. Didn't realize until I read the postgame recap on godrakebulldogs.com that even after tonight's win Green Bay still leads the series 6-3. Agreed good start. Got a little worried when the lead was down to 3 early in the 4th but we recovered nicely and pulled away. First game is always sloppy, but we will absolutely have to play our best to have any chance against Iowa on Sunday.

Free throws gonna cost them a shot at an all-time win.
