That's why it won't happen.

The negative thing is it would be a good mid major vs a good mid major - thereby probably knocking one of them out. It should be a god mid major vs a mid power 5 team so maybe smaller conferences could get several teams in and power 5 wouldn’t get 8.

• Yep, it sadly would be seen as a play in, and out, game for the Mids. 
• ZERO! Zero is the number of how many 5th-9th place Major teams, in what will soon be NCAA DI, will play teams in the soon to be "NCAA D-IA Elimination Week."  Why would they risk it?  The NET of a Major bottom feeder has a better NET when they are 3-15 against Quad 1 teams.
• That being said, give me Drake vs Butler part due and I'm there.   
• By the end of Bracketbuster every Mid was playing.  Drake was awful and went to play at Cal St Northridge.  Can't wait to see a ninth place Mid have to spend the money last minute to go play at Lamar. Who is paying for the last minute travel?

Hammy is spot on. Kyle Whelliston from mid majority fame always hated the bracket buster concept, because as hammy lays out, it was more of a "play out" than a play in game. It was also difficult on travel budgets when ESPN would announce those so close to the date the games were being played, iirc about a month or so out. Think when Drake played at Cal State Northridge/CSUN for a one-off game. Sure it filled a noncon slot for a return game in 10-11, but that travel cost was tough on a programs when it wasnt UWM or Butler playing Drake. Travel cost concerns would in part be alleviated if the matchups were announced in before the season started, but then you might not get the marquee matchups this is intends to provide.
