Chill, this is a valid thread. The results of the poll shows we expect him to stay. There's no reason why we can't discuss the coaching carousel and how it may impact Drake.

Agree with lawdog. At the end of the day, you guys know full well what’s being discussed in this thread. I understand it’s not the rosiest thing to thing about. So if it is something that upsets you, you certainly don’t have to open the thread.

So if it is something that upsets you, you certainly don’t have to open the thread. If this thread didn't exist, I'm sure a lot of other threads will get polluted with this kind of talk. That's the only reason I started this thread. It was already being discussed elsewhere.

I would just prefer you create a safe space for me so I don't have to read things I don't like.

Underwood to LSU? No way. Why? Aren’t they getting sanctioned which is why they fired their coach?

Kansas State has made its decision. Looks like the DeVries family will stay another year.

At the end of the day, its hard to know what would be DeVries dream job becuase he's always said it was Drake. That's why I think it would have to be something very high profile and would likely require a few NCAA appearances. I'm not worried, but I do think its worth discussing. I think Drake could raise funds to pay him a lot if Drake continues on this trajectory.

Certainly looks like good news at the obvious steps up. Now let's get some of these eligible seniors to give us one more year. Valley won't be easy next year with what MSU and UNI have coming back.

0 after not seeing our coaches name come up in possible Butler coach replacement articles. Butler probably would worry me more than the Missouri or Kstate openings if they had not waited so long.

A Lickliter protege fired at Butler. In the meanwhile Lickliter has lost almost all of his team and still has a job.

I'm almost 0% worried about Butler, they like to hire from their own tree and it doesn't hold any value for DD. Further away from family.

I don't see it at all at Butler - they are notably cheap and not in the game for hiring a name unless something has changed

Butler hires Thad Matta. Didn’t realize he is only 54 because of his walking issues.

Guess who is on Yahoo's Nick Shepkowski's list of potential replacements for Head Coach at Notre Dame? You are correct if you said that one of the 10 possibilities is Porter Moser. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/college-basketball-10-potential-mike-202234246.html

If DeVries were to leave, this would feel like Keno 2.0 to me in terms of being a risk. Keno never proved he could recruit without his dad before taking the Providence job. I think that is an open question here as well.
Look at the contributors this season. We still are living off of transfers from years ago, his son, and a walk-on. Marty essentially drove the recruiting of The Region. Admittedly, Yesufu was a good recruit but ended up transferring. The reason why the bench is so thin is that the recent recruiting has been spotty at best. Enright may end up being good, but Calhoun has been disappointing as a transfer. Ferguson has not panned out. Samake has been hurt, but has not recovered apparently.
I'm not saying that DeVries could never be a high-major coach because he is smart and can squeeze what he can out of the talent that he has. But, I think that a program like Notre Dame should wait and see whether he can attract enough talent to maintain being at the top of the conference.
