2 PM tipoff on ESPN3.
St Thomas is making the move up to D1....I literally know nothing about their team.
Hopefully, it will be a chance to try out some new things, and get some good playing time for some of the younger guys.

They have already won three games against D1 competition. I don't expect a blowout.

St. Thomas is making the jump from D3 to D1 after getting kicked out of their D3 conference for being too good, particularly in football. They are in the Summit League for Basketball.
D1 wins are against St. Francis Brooklyn (0-7, NEC), Niagara (1-3, MAAC), and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (3-5, OVC). Losses to Chicago State, Fordham, Youngstown State, and Seattle.
ESPN BPI gives Drake a 95.7% chance of winning.

We wiped the floor with South Dakota. St Thomas is not as good as South Dakota.
St Thomas isn't as bad as I expected for their first year of D, but yeah... We better kick their butt.

They are 3-4 on the season, and 3-4 away from home. First home gamee not until Dec. 11th. Losses on the road against Chicago St, Fordham and Youngstown St. by six or less. Beat St. Francis, NY (331) away by 18, Niagra (207) by nine and SIU-E (318) by 13 on neutral courts.
This will be the Tommies most difficult scheduled game all year. This team of seniors will shoot from three because they can. They are 28th in the country on Effective FG%, Third in turnover percentage, 20th in 3pt shooting, 115th in 2P%, 47th in steal%, and 2nd in non-stl TO%.
Ryan Lindberg, a 6'3 SF is shooting 23-39 from three for 59% and 12th in the nation. Kevin Cunningham, 6'0 SR off the bench is shooting 7-15 from three. Starting SG is Riley Miller who is 35-77 from three Brooks Allen, backup JR center at 6'7 8-20 from three
The problem is defense. St. Thomas is 6'6, 6'4,6'3, 6'3,6'0. They are built like a D-3 team. Defensively: 356th Efficiency, 349th Effective FG%, Turnover % 317, 2P% 351, Block % 355.
They have nobody that can stop Brody on the inside.
I expect Drake to score big points. However, let's see the Bulldogs defense prevent the three pointer.

+xFor those of us who don't want to pay to read the article....what does it say? Miller epitomizes the team's identity. He's tough and unselfish with a smooth shooting touch. Lightly recruited at Benilde-St. Margaret's, Miller hoped to play for St. Thomas' junior varsity team. He now leads all of Division I in three-pointers made (42) and three-pointers per game (5.25). As a team, the Tommies entered the weekend second nationally in three-pointers made per game at 13.4 and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.9. In other words, a typical Tauer offense: a well-coached scheme that is predicated on spacing, movement, passing and efficiency. They also push the pace to get open shots in transition.

+xFor those of us who don't want to pay to read the article....what does it say? I didn't pay, but it's pretty much an article that comes to the same conclusion I posted earlier. They are still a D-III team living in a D-I world. Asking, how good are the best D-III teams relative to Division I? The answer, look at their record. They are using the same Tommies starting lineup as last season and mostly the same bench rotation... five transfers as reinforcements for the transition. No longer with the program, former Gophers forward Jarvis Omersa, and none of the other transfers are contributing much yet, partly because of injuries. Their three D-I wins have been by at least nine points. That nine-point win over Niagara is interesting because Niagra lost to Xavier by three and Ohio State by 10. Coach has built an atmosphere with guys who want to win as a team. BIGGEST TAKE HOME IS THE FUTURE.... They signed four guys that sits 58 th nationally in 247Sports composite rankings. Includes Minnesota standouts Ahjany Lee, Kendall Blue and Carter Bjerke, plus Andrew Rohde of Wisconsin. All Top 500 national recruits. They just need what Drake needs, more bigs! It should be interesting to see if the Gophers will schedule the Tommies. I can see them being the Belmont of the North. I'd much prefer these guys over Valpo or Evansville in the Valley.

Sounds like Tucker is starting in place of Roman. Interesting.

That's.... Uhhhh... Weird, no? Did Ayo slap the entire coaching staff in the face, why wouldn't he be the starter?

Sounds like DJ will run some point. I don’t love it but I’m fine trying it. I think they should start Ayo and pull Enright’s redshirt, personally.

How does Brodie get 2 fouls against this team? So frustrating. He should be scoring at will and not needing to foul against this team. Our offense is still missing.

First foul on Brodie was not a foul, but yeah Brodie can’t guard the perimeter. Nothing new there
