Assuming everyone in here watches Drake basketball consistently it is obvious Tank and Roman are still not right after their foot injuries. Anything lower extremity is a concern once operated on and the human foot is extremely complex and bears a lot of weight.

Tank is not competing for rebounds or playing above the rim like he did all of last year. He used to battle in congested areas for rebounds and literally rise above opponents with relatively little effort. Now, he’s hardly in the mix on the boards and he is getting swatted on drives or post ups on the offensive end. Even his defense is suffering.

Similarly, Roman is having a hard time breaking anyone down and he just seems a step slow compared to last year. Last night he went to the bench mid game and took his shoe off to run the outside of his left foot. He’s clearly frustrated and in pain, and I have a sinking feeling this will be a theme all year.

I hope I am wrong but all things considered, this team is going to struggle so long as these two guys are not fully healthy or mentally back from their injuries.

If these things are true, it makes me wonder why we aren't seeing more minutes from Ayo and Nate. I get that Ayo and Roman were out at the same time a lot last night when we were playing small ball and that did work well, so I get that. But, can't Nate relieve Tank a little? It's not like he was relieving Brodie much, he only played 2 min. All of you smarter than me can tell me what to think. ;)

I agree with you completely and would add we need to play Jonah and Okay some too.  We don't want to end up with a seven man rotation at season end.  I know the goal is winning every game, and I think we can accomplish this and still give these guys 5+ minutes each.

I think it is reasonable to ponder but to arbitrarialy make factual is a bit steep, rich, and extremely negative. Actually, I think Tank gets more and more to his "normal" explosive self each time he takes the court. Roman looks the same as always to me.

I think the issue of the "magic" with this team is the fact that everyone has the scout now, not fooling anyone. It started happen just after mid season last year. We had the pigeoned toed traitor to bail the Dogs out more and more as the season came to an end.

Another factor this season is that the Dogs are bringing in a talented freshman who is still learning the ropes. I don't want any players to play with reckless abandonment until the season is on the line. And to me, that's what Tank did last year and we can see where that got him and the team. I think we all need to hold on and see what happens over the next several weeks, Springfield, MO will be here soon.

Agree 1000%  Foot injuries have ruined many a good career for basketball players.  Normally it's big men, like Sam Bowie, Bill Walton, but they basically ruined their careers.  I understand DeVries is used to leaning on Penn, especially at crunch time, but watching the games it's very clear that neither one is at their best right now.  Maybe they are fine and just are not trusting it yet.  I honestly have no idea.  These guys all came back to play 1 more year together, and I admire the heck out of these guys.  Hoping they can stay healthy for the entire season.

Nothing negative at all about what he said, especially in light of what some on here have said about other players.  Foot injuries are tough to recover from.

Z, I get it, I'm not saying he is wrong. Please don't take it as a personal attack but if his guess is correct, that is a negative IMO. Foot and back injuries are both tough to recover from. So is looking at DUBs face.

Maybe Penn is a step or two slow I can understand that. That would be a reason for less dribbling and more passing. It just seems like everyone seems a step slow. I think they need to get motivated

I think we're plenty motivated.  I think we've lost a little confidence.  Losing 3 close games in a row can do that to you.  Let's start a little winning streak and see what happens.  The potential is still there.

I think DD said something over the summer that Tank was back to full speed, but Roman wasn’t quite there yet. I’m guessing that Roman wasn’t able to do his usual conditioning over the summer, and is just now getting there.Tank has definitely shown some flashes of last season’s pre-injury form.I’m not real concerned about either guy right now.

I would very much like to see Okay get some playing time when our opponents play zone to see what he can do from the 3.

I don't think his time is until next year.  Doesn't look to me like he's in the rotation much moving forward.  Hopefully he keeps improving and can be a player next year.  We're replacing a lot of veteran players.

I think it has something to do with drums, or apple cores. I just want to beat on the drum all day? With an apple?
