Might as well start this now.
Several national sources are reporting that Indiana State has cut Greg Lansing loose.
With their budget, not sure they're going to find anybody better.

I think he’s a pretty good coach. Things had gotten stale maybe on both sides.

Lansing is only 53. I didn’t realize he was that young. He was only in his 20s when he was at DM Roosevelt.

The notes on his career were pretty impressive. 11th coach in MVC history with 100 conference wins.
Mark Phelps should be available .

Itll be interesting to see what happens to many of ISUb’s players. Wonder if they’ll wait and see or enter the portal. La Ravia, Williams and Neese are younger. Key could use the free year and try to get to post season next year somewhere else.

I expect to see a lot of InSU names in transfer portal soon.
Right now, there are only 3 MVC players in the portal....
MISSOURI VALLEY Thomasi Gilgeous-Alexander, 6-5, 180, G, RS Fr., Evansville (2.4 ppg – 8 games) Keith Fisher III, 6-8, 220, F, Sr., Illinois State (9.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg: 2019) Nick Robinson, 6-5, 215, G, Sr., Valparaiso (9.1 ppg – 8 games)

+x+xMight as well start this now. Several national sources are reporting that Indiana State has cut Greg Lansing loose. With their budget, not sure they're going to find anybody better. it's official If my memory is correct, Lansing had an unusual open-ended unlimited contract with ISU until last year when it was taken away. That probably was an indicator of things to come. I agree that Lansing is a very good coach. He should have no problem finding a new opportunity.

My guess would be that the Cyclone fans would find that option intolerable even though it's pretty clear to anyone who has followed the MVC that Lansing knows what he is doing

I was thinking it would go the other way with Prohm being the guy for InSU (ala the Evansville coach), but then I read that Prohm is signed through 2025 and his buyout would be over $5 million. Looks like ISU has their coach for a while.

I got bored and hopped on Cyclone Fanatic last night to see who the fans wanted as a coach. Craig Smith of Utah State is mostly what they are expecting. Remember when he was our coach for... ohhhhh, about an hour? :)
Most folks said hard no to Niko. Some folks weren't thrilled about Darian. Darian really wasn't any of the fans first choice, which I found fascinating. No way Lansing ends up at a school that has a winning tradition like Iowa State, don't be silly. He's going to be an assistant at a good program, or a HC at a low major. We all know he can coach, but his record won't get him at Valley-level conference HC.

I remember the Craig Smith era fondly.
Surprised there isn't more buzz for Devries, especially when you factor in Tucker. But that's obviously fine by me.

Tying not to take this thread too far off-topic, but if you look at Prohm's record prior to Iowa State at a mid-major, I could see how ISU fans would look at DD as another Prohm. They probably wouldn't want to go the mid-major HC route again. Prohm's pre-ISU record

Not a coaching tree I would think any ISU fan would be pleased with. All of which I think is great!
