+xWe don't look like an NCAA Tournament caliber team right now. We won't beat Missouri State or win the Valley playing like this. It is unrealistic to expect this year's team to make the NCAA tournament, or win the MVC or beat Mo State. Three starters graduated and two of them were great players. Berg is going to be a Drake great but losing that much firepower and rebounding and depth is major. A more realistic goal is to finish 4th in the MVC and that will not be easy. Mo. State appears better than last year, Northern Iowa has most everyone back and a very talented freshman class, Bradley has most everyone back and has added depth, Illinois State, Valpo and Loyola all appear to be decent so Drake must play well to finish 4th or 5th in the MVC. In the past few years Drake has overcome terrible defense by outscoring the opposition. That will not be as easy to do this year, especially as other teams begin keying on Berg, and as Drake suffers from its lack of sufficient depth. Still a fun team to watch and capable of winning several games but unrealistic expectations are not fair to this group of players.

Still a very good offense, just not as potent as the previous year. Still poorly played defense, like previous years. Still fun for me to watch!!

Coming into the season 4th in MVC was my expectation were but I also think we're doing better than I thought we would be. I think we can get 2nd or 3rd in the MVC but WNIT (if it happens) not NCAA remains my expectation. I do think depth is better than last year and will continue to get better. Jennie did say she's changing up the defense this year from a zone to a man defense so it's absolutely a work-in-progress. Tonight's game will only air on Longhorn Network which is great if you live in Texas or have a literally everything TV package. I don't hold an expectation of winning but it will be great experience for the players none the less.

I don't hold an expectation of winning but it will be great experience for the players none the less. Think that a 3rd place finish is possible but Northern Iowa and Mo. State look to be strong favorites for the top 2 spots based on the games I have watched this year. Those Northern Iowa freshmen are good. We will find out really soon how we stack up against Bradley. Bradley has not been that impressive so far this year but our defense is so bad and they have such great offensive weapons I think it will be difficult to outscore them. Would bet there will no WNIT this year. We have looked better at times than i expected but still there is a lot to be concerned about as we have not shown that we can defend anybody plus Berg will really be defended hard by teams in the MVC and teams will attempt to get her in foul trouble. That is why it was so great to have two stars last year. I just don't understand why we are such a poor defensive team. At some point Jen has to realize that what we are trying to do defensively is not working. Everybody else can see it. Why can't she?

Earlier in the week #22 Texas lost to #12 Texas A&M 66-61. Tonight, Drake held the Longhorns to 59. The problem, it's only halftime... 59-44. Drake can score with the best of them, but the lack of defense continues.

101-80 final. Didn't see video or listen to radio but just following the stats Texas led by 20-30 the whole game. Not surprising at all.
Last non-conference game: At Iowa State, Tuesday 6:00 PM. Game will be on ESPN+ (thank you new Big 12 TV deal taking the game off Cyclones.tv).

Not really Drake related other than Drake destroyed a diminished Gophers squad. I just saw one of their 2021 recruits graduated early and is joining the team now. Seems odd to me but since this year doesn’t count for eligibility why not. Heck she is from one of the northern hockey schools anyway.

21 turnovers, 15 of 25 from the line. Most TOs unforced. Can't win with those stats.
