The fact that we have not had a renewal letter by now indicates to me that the status of the preseason games and perhaps the entire season, is in doubt

Agreed.  I just realized a few days ago that we normally have received all that info by now.

It sounds like they are working on bubbles for games. Not sure how that will work since students have to attend class, but it will probably mean no fans.
A college basketball bubble? In Des Moines?
Big East basketball may be ahead of the college curve looking at bubbles

Current rumors say season won't start before November 25. Drake, and most other institutions, are ending the semester early (November 20) so students don't have to come back after Thanksgiving and risk spreading the virus. Right now Drake is still planning to conduct J-Term and then start spring semester on January 25. That would allow 2 months for bubble basketball. Makes great sense to me.

(Reminder that J-Term is completely optional, athletes don't/can't do it because they can't meet the attendance requirements and play road games anyway so it doesn't really matter.)

Other rumors are non-conference games are still desired. I'm hearing desires for 3 conferences sharing one bubble. With the officiating agreement in place, I could easily see the Big 12 & Missouri Valley Conference sharing bubble. Third conference take your guess.

Again everything is a rumor right now.
