+xLauer has been terrific. A real work horse and a Bulldog in every sense of the word. What's with his pants, though? He's pulling them up after almost every play. I thought Corwin played well. A few interceptions in the Dayton game that cost us, but over all, happy to have him back for 3 more years. dog67...thank you for the comment about Ian Corwin. He has played well this season. He has thrown too many interceptions, no question about that, but I found this very interesting. Jack Cook, the Dayton QB, is going to finish 2nd team QB in the PFL (Reid Sinnett of SD will be 1st team, and possibly the Offensive Player-of-the Year in the league). He is a redshirt sophomore from Pennsylvania. Cook took over last year at QB for the Flyers after their starter (Alex Jeske) got hurt in the very first game. He had one full year under his belt (a freshman redshirt season, and a spring ball) before becoming the starter. Corwin arrived in Des Moines in June from Tulsa, and tried to learn the entire playbook in two months before fall camp began. No redshirt year, and no spring ball. Let's compare their 1st year stats as a starter.... Cook---- 11 Games played 170-280 60.6% 2,421 yards 20 TD's 2 Int's Corwin-- 10 Games played 162-277 58.5% 1,955 yards 18 TD's 14 Int's Yes...too many INT's, but true freshman do tend to make mistakes against good defenses like South Dakota St. (ask the UNI QB), North Dakota, and San Diego. He will get better with that. He's dinged up a little bit, but has played through it and never complained. I am very excited to see what he will do the next three years. I don't know what people expected this year out of an 18 year old who was simply better in fall camp than the other guys at that position. Hopefully he ends the season on a high note Saturday at Davidson.
