I think this is very cool for both Drake and the DM City schools. I’ve got to think this would help with recruiting. Looks fantastic. Very impressive.

Some pushback... Des Moines Public Schools soccer stadium proposal reveals misplaced priorities Des Moines Parents Not Quite On Board With New Stadium Project Would be nice if these reporters had a larger sample size. I hear more positives from community then the articles portray.

Residents in the DSM School District are the folks paying for this with property taxes. Even those who are the dellusional extreme left minded, that I know, are not in favor of this. Bad deal for DSM residents.

"Dogtown is about to be one of the most exciting places in central Iowa,”
That is a bold statement.

Bad deal for DSM residents. I find it amazing that anybody who purports to support Drake would not be in favor of this. I actually can't imagine how anybody who supports Des Moines would not be in favor of this. The facilities for school sports in the suburbs are undoubtedly appealing, and Des Moines needs to have something to compete for families and students. Apparently Des Moines Public School officials have reached the same conclusion.

Since you or none of them live in Des Moines, I find your opinion absurd. TORT REFORM!!!
Actually, Lime had the response I was looking for. How is this being paid for? Does anyone know 100%? If Johnston, WDSM, Urby-dale, Altoona, etc. were chipping in, maybe I would be more open to the idea. But I have a feeling, like always, Des Moines folks will foot the bill.

The facility would be used for Des Moines' schools, not Urbandale's, WDM's, Altoona's, etc. So, yes, Des Moines would be paying for it. Did Des Moines residents help pay for the facilities in West Des Moines, Johnston, Waukee, etc. Actually, in a way, suburban folks are helping pay for this every time they shop in Des Moines, since sales tax is what is going to pay for this, if it's built.
