Agree, there should be no expectation when it comes to the Redbirds besides development. Maybe I didn't understand your comment. Do you think DeVries was left with a good roster when he arrived in Des Moines? Reminder: DeVries was left with two players. TWO! McGlynn and Thomas. They were predicted to finish 10th. 'Dogs still finished 12-6 in conference after losing the best point guard in the Valley in Nick Norton when he went down with an ACL ending injury in their first conference game. Plus, they lost Wilkins and McGlynn at Arch Madness. DeVries recruited the Murphy twins, got a 7'0er by the name of Liam Roberts, who didn't receive one other Division I offer. Don't forget Iowa transfer Brady Ellingson and a freshman walk-on by the name of Garrett Sturtz who played over 20 minutes a game.

For those of us who really don't want to listen to the podcast.....what was the comment? They were talking about Illinois State and how fans can't expect instant success. Then mentioned Devries and how their new coach "didn't walk in to the roster Darian Devries did." Saying Devries had instant success because of the talented roster he inherited! Yeah, Niko left a lot.

I’m pretty sure I said the “roster that DeVries walked into” which was to compare the first year roster he had to what Pedon has….not to look at what Medved specifically left him. I don’t know if I actually mentioned anything about Medved. If I mis-spoke, it is what it is, but figured I’d add a little clarity to you folks. -Baker

He walked into a roster with 2 guys. Everything else he did on his own. Admit you missed the mark here.

No you didn't mention PeeWee/Medved. No big deal. To be clear, the Classless Colorado State Punk walked out after one average season, and took his Drake signed recruits with him. That's how DeVries "walked into" a team with two players. DeVries miraculously brought in every other player I listed above in just a couple of months. So, you are correct, DeVries didn't have a similar situation as the new coach at Ill State.

DeVries was great from jump street. No arguments there. The rebuild of Drake was the moment he got the Murphys, which I believe was super fast into his tenure. The overall point was that DeVries had a better roster in year 1, and we need to have more grace (as Redbird fans) with Pedon. Sometimes I don’t get my point perfect, and if my wording didn’t convey that, then that’s on me. Keep rolling Drake and thanks all for listening.
