Playing in to the Big 12, Big 10, Big Bullshyt .... high major baloney. You sheeple are kill'n me. It's that type of reaction and thinking that will keep the smaller schools down. You gotta believe like it's 1969!

+x+xIn spite of what a couple of you have said, I do feel that it has been a long, drawn out, cat and mouse situation. It's close to 1 1/2 years since the Drake offer. In all his interviews with Bain, as recent as last week's post, he is saying that it's a 3 way race. If that isn't cat and mouse, I don't know what is. Once again, I am saying it is drawn out and cat and mouse, because of the circumstances. As I said, if it was anybody but the coach's son, it would be par for the course, and expected. But, this is the coach's son. Fun or no fun being recruited by P-5 schools, and seeing who loves you, why would you even care? What's the point in all of this? Once again, if this hasn't been decided by the DeVries household, already, then I feel for the coach. I wonder if other coaches with sons are wondering what's going on, also. I feel for DD. I don't agree. How long has he had the ISU offer? How long has he been considered a 4 Star? Weeks? If I'm his dad, I want him to carefully consider his options and make the choice that is best for him. Anything else would be selfish of the coach. +1 There isn't a kid out there that hasn't been screwed in the recruiting process because of COVID. Let him go through the experience and make up his own mind. The glass is over half full! This is an incredible opportunity for small schools to keep those athletes that developed late. Those big programs that traditionally come in late weren't able to do the last minute offer. I think we will see plenty of small schools land late blooming jewels, with a better chance of keeping them. Hopefully they will win and want to stay at that school. My concern, fewer non-conference opportunities for mids against majors, the NCAA will fill the post season with even more majors. You know the reason.... $$$$.

Per his IG account he appears to be on what I assume would have to be an unofficial visit to Iowa State.

Minnesota, I believe, went after Sandfort. Based on Tucker's retweet, I 'm thinking this is why the Gophers aren't getting any consideration from Payton. https://twitter.com/n__lun/status/1310642367305838592

Personally, I didn't read it like that. But at this point, Bain has written essentially the same write-up on Tucker for a month straight now in response to questions about Drake v. Iowa State v. Creighton. I imagine he's running out of ways to say "Tucker seems to like all three schools a lot and is taking his time in considering which school to attend."

I'm still hoping he does the right thing. The longer this goes on, the less it seems he wants to play for his father.

If Tucker doesn't play for his father he will eventually regret it and it will be too late. It's one of those decisions that's more about the heart. I lost my father at a relatively young age and now I wish I would have spent a lot more time with him.
Moving forward.....

I hope I’m wrong but at this point it seems all but certain he is a cyclone. Sad.

Bain is just guessing at this point. Nothing new there. Let's see what Tucker has actually said so far:
"They've had a lot of guys like me," DeVries said of Creighton. "They're probably playing me at the 3/4, just like Mitch Ballock. I'm very similar play style — I can shoot it, 6-5 or 6-6, and kind of play that mismatch 4 position. I've watched them since I was younger. So (they) play open, free, let it fly. I love what they do and it fits my play style. They realize that so that's what they've been pushing for me."
"The difference between Drake and Creighton is probably my role," DeVries said. "At Drake, I could probably see myself having a bigger role, especially earlier in my career. And just having that family atmosphere there. Even if my dad wasn't my coach, I love the players they have there. They're really close with the staff. It's kind of like a small city atmosphere. Everybody’s closer together."
"They’re trying to say that it’s the Big 12, closer games, obviously a higher level and better competition than Drake," DeVries said of what the Cyclones are telling him. "They agree with the fact that going mid-major or high-major is not going to change who I am beyond college, but it’s really just the college experience and the difference between going to the Bahamas in those preseason tournaments and playing for Big 12 titles and all that stuff. It’s definitely cool to hear."
"If I went to Creighton, it’d be a lot of East Coast games that aren't quite as seeable for family and friends," DeVries said. "Being local, I’d definitely have a lot of people involved and still be at that high-major level. Drake is just not high-major, but it’s still home."
"If I didn’t go to Drake, it would definitely have to be something that would pull me away — that I’d really, 100% want to be there," DeVries said.

I lost my father at a relatively young age and now I wish I would have spent a lot more time with him. You are right about that. And if your own kid doesn't think Drake is good enough for him, what argument do you have for the next Robbins? How do you EVER convince a recruit with a bigger conference offer to sign.

Interesting that Oregon moves into a final four when Florida didn’t.
I would be shocked if he wound up at Drake at this point. It looked like Drake/Creighton for the longest time, but he’s clearly interested in the major offers (can’t blame him).

I agree with Drakey. If he doesn’t stay home it seems like a gut punch Would set the bar for future recruits

I’m wondering if the Oregon offer is just kind of a kind gesture of acknowledgement from DD’s former boss (or his former boss is really stepping on his toes, I guess it could go either way).
If Payton went to Stanford I might be a little more concerned about the Oregon offer.
But yeah I once again agree that, fair or not, losing out on Tucker would reflect poorly on Drake’s recruiting going forward.

Drake will be fine as long as DeVries is the coach, with or without his son. Plenty of good players out there and he clearly knows how to find them.
