Wonder if the participation is better with less roster turnover. Anyone of you know how DeVries feels about it?

I get the impression Devries does not think these leagues are as valuable as they once were. The level of competition has decreased significantly. Outside of Drake and ISU players, the level of competition is not good.Same thing has happened in the Prime time League in Iowa City.

Only 22 NCAA approved summer leagues in the country. I think there used to be many more. Prime Time League folded prior to last season, not sure if it’s coming back.
Cap City draft is Saturday, June 1.
16 players on Drake’s roster....only 12 can play in Cap City (max of 2 per each of the 6 teams). I hope all the newcomers are playing. For me, getting to see the new players is the most interesting thing to watch.

Cap City seems like a particular waste for centers so maybe you don't waste Robbins's and Ernst's time and then Wilkins and Gholson are both coming off injuries so you sit them.

Order of the Drake portion of the draft: 1. Tremell Murphy 2. Jonah Jackson 3. Antonio Pilipovic 4. Issa Samake 5. Okay Djamgouz 6. Liam Robbins 7. Nate Ferguson 8. Brady Ernst 9. Connor Gholson 10. Joe Yesufu 11. Garrett Sturtz 12. Samm Jones
I don’t think that’s how the cap city draft prognosticators had it going down 😂
Obviously must mean that Noah, Penn, DJ and Tone did not enter the league this year (which kinda sucks). Maybe Tone will sneak in in place of his brother a game or two lol.

Starts June 16. Runs through July 21. Sundays and Thursdays. Starts at Southwoods, don't know if there will be games at other places like there have been in the past.

Game 1: Djamgouz & Ernst's team beat Murphy & Jones' team 115-105
Ernst wasn't there. Murphy was there, sat on the bench, but never put on his jersey. He didn't look injured, but you never know.
Djamgouz had 16 points, 5 rebound, 4 assists, but didn't shoot well. Legs looked tired. 6-18 from the field, 4-14 from 3-point range. Very skinny. Very high arcing shot. Probably a better shooter than he showed today. Doesn't look like he'll play any point.
Jones had 10 points, and even hit a couple of 3's. Shot still isn't pretty, but it's not as ugly as it used to be.
Game 2: Jackson & Sturtz' team beat Robbins & Ferguson's team 101-69. Extremely ugly game. Robbins/Ferguson team is going to have major troubles all year.
Ferguson wasn't there. Robbins didn't score. Mostly stood around at the 3-point line and was 0-3 from 3 (0-4 overall). 2 blocks, but only 4 rebounds. Robbins is never going to great in a league like this where whoever brings it up court usually shoots, and nobody passes into the post, but definitely would like to see more than 4 rebounds.
Sturtz had 6 points, 9 rebounds 5 assists. He wasn't hesitant from the 3-point line, but went 0-3. Jackson had 22 points (5-13 from 3) and 6 rebounds. Mostly a shooter, not overly athletic. Bigger than I expected.
Game 3 was by far the best game of the night. Yesufu & Pilipovic's team beat Gholson & Samake's team 144-136.
Gholson had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Pilopivic had 7 points and 6 rebounds, but only 1-7 from 3-point range. Looks to be slimmer than in previous years, but game looks the same.
Samake and Yesufu both looked really good. They're both really athletic and both have very high motors. Samake had 26 points (11-16 from the field, including 3-5 from 3-pt), 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. He is raw, but more skilled than I expected. He can handle the ball a little, has a midrange game and can hit the 3. He is extremely athletic and threw down a huge alley-oop. Yesufu had 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. He wasn't afraid to take it at anybody, and he had a nice looking shot. Extremely athletic. A whole bunch of ISU fans were talking about his dunk on the way out of the gym.

I had forgotten that Djamgouz didn't show up until just after the game started, so he didn't have time to warm up at all.....that definitely could have contributed to his off shooting night.
