NCAA (68 teams): 32 auto bids, 36 at-large bids NIT (32 teams): Auto bid to all conference regular season champions not in NCAA Tournament CBI (16 teams): Next after NIT, best of 3 championship round CIT (32 teams): Up to 32 teams usually mid-majors as final tournament to select
Total of 148 teams. Drake is ranked 74 in RPIs and 141 in the new NET Ratings going into today. Total of 16 wins equals .500 record. In theory preference is given to teams with 17 wins or higher, we are at 18

DR Ratings Bracketology compiles overall rating categories. By this factor they predict Drake wins the MVC Tournament... DR Ratings BracketologyDrake was in the NIT discussion as of January... SB Nation NIT bracketology

Probably way too early for this kind of discussion. CIT or CBI seem most likely at this time. Unsure if Drake would accept a bid to either of those....it's not unusual for team's to turn those down, as they're essentially pay to play.

Personally I have zero interest in Drake playing in either the CIT or CBI. We've had enough of that under Phelps and pee wee.

I don’t have any problem with it. More games is more games.

I'm in favor of it because if we win 22-24 games I want to have something to show for the season than something like a Saturday loss in St. Louis. CBI is usually a *little* more prestigious than the CIT, where we've usually played. Hopefully we can just win Arch Madness instead!

I absolutely would approve of playing in CBI or CIT

Whatever the team and coaches want would be my thought.
Agree, win in St Louis and make this discussion moot.

We're likely only making the NIT if we get the auto bid (which would mean Loyola tanks down the stretch and we win the regular season). NCAA only if we win Arch Madness.
CIT/CBI very likely.

Since we are losing at least McGlynn and Ellingson we should definitely take any postseason we can get, we need more practice time for all of the guys coming back.

If you would have told me preseason Drake would lose on Saturday of STL I would have been ecstatic, now I think we're a dark horse to win it if we can avoid Loyola. Devries has completely turned around expectations.

It has seemed the Bulldogs always play well on Friday when winning on Thursday. I remember taking Creighton to the wire a few games.

NCAA Bracketology has Loyola as a 15 seed. Depending on where you look they either play Michigan State in Des Moines or Kentucky in Columbus.

The difference between this year and past years...we have a legit chance to win the CBI or CIT. It would be a crime to win 20+ games and have no postseason. Turning down the CBI or CIT would be like a 6-6 or 7-5 football team turning down a lower tier bowl game.
On the women's side they still take 64 teams to the NIT. For some reason the men's tournament was reduced to 32 teams. The reduction of teams along with the new auto bids create less opportunities for the MVC. Many of the teams in the CBI/CIT would be NIT teams prior to the rule changes.
Hopefully we will just win the MVC and go to the NCAA!

I don't think the men's NIT has ever been more than 32 teams.

I don't think the men's NIT has ever been more than 32 teams. Early 2000's it was 40, then around 2008ish it went back to 32 teams.
