Next up: Annual Trip to Cedar Falls
Game will be televised on the MVC TV package, meaning Fox Sports Midwest and/or NBC Sports Chicago for those of us local.
ESPN+ BPI gives Drake a 55.0% chance of victory.
UNI is down to 8 scholarship players on the active roster due to injuries and redshirts. They had enough problems before injuries, seeing them at the US Bank Stadium Classic and Wells Fargo Arena they were flat out awful.

It's UNI. They won't be awful against us. Expect a tough outing.
Moving forward.....

It will be interesting to see who can control the pace in this one. Drake is first in the conference in scoring averaging 81 points per game, while UNI is last at 65 a game.

Noah is going to have to be really strong with the ball. UNI grabs and bumps like crazy on defense.

Just play our game and the Bulldogs will whomp them. Don't play half speed. Don't get lured into it. I bet Devries don't fall for it.

If we can rebound and scrap like we did the first half against SIU, we can put the hurt on UNI. If we play defense like we did the second half, it could be a longggg night. Can't count on near 60% shooting every night.
Looking for more production from the Murphy twins this game..

UNI is playing much better. 1-1 on the road (dang near 2-0) tough loss at Ill St. last night. They are figuring things out. Need Green to not go crazy, I think our athleticism is better and could be the key. Nick Mc will be a key. They will have to double him every time as no real bulk in the post. If they play their big post player he can't defend on the perimeter. We will need to make 3's off the double inside. TEMPO is a key for Sunday!

DogGone, I don't disagree with you. Every game is dependent upon Nick M. Going a bit further, if Nick M. performs then this game and the season boils down to how well Noah Thomas can play the 1. The 24 he scored against SIU was gravy! What he scores isn't as important as how well he distributes the ball, avoids turnovers, and runs the offense. Anyone else here think that Noah Thomas has the ability to be a better point guard than Norton? Thomas certainly has more speed and height. Question is whether his point guard IQ can be quickly elevated by crash-course experience and coaching.
If Nick M. performs and Thomas develops quickly, Drake can still finish VERY high in the conference. A depleted UNI is a great game for Thomas to further develop.

I don't think many people have the potential to be better than Nick Norton but as you said, he's taller and faster. He may be very good his Junior and Senior year but he's just a different type of player. So far very pleased with how him and the rest of the team have done without Norton.

I see in this mornings paper that UNI lost one of their starting guards to torn ACL the other night, so they are down to eight scholarship players for tomorrow’s game. That will balance out the depth of both teams. I’m hopeful for a big road win at UNI - we haven’t had many of those recently.
Here we go Bulldogs, here we go…

Drake hasn't won in Cedar Falls since Phelps' first season (2009). Let's change that.

This is the type of game where Nick McGlynn can put up big numbers. But, he's gotta be smart about it and let the game come to him. If he's forcing it too much, I could see it leading to early foul trouble. He has to be ready for the double-team and Drake's outside shooters need to be ready to hit the 3 on passes out of the post if they do double team McGlynn.
Noah Thomas vs AJ Green should be an interesting matchup.
Both teams have very thin benches, I hope the officials don't call this one too tight.

Are they still playing their aggressive grabby defense? If so, wouldn't a (theoretically) tightly called game hurt them more? Not trying to be a prack but naively to me I would think that would throw them off their game and give more freedom for Thomas to utilize his speed. Besides, who wouldn't want to see a little 3-on-3 basketball at the end of the game :w00t:

UNI is listed as a 2.5 point favorite.
From what I saw earlier in the year, they had decent defense but could not hit a shot to save their life. If we can get the same start we had against Loyola and SIU they won't be able to catch up.

Getting stops has been a bit of a challenge for the Bulldogs, especially during conference play. Through three MVC games, Drake has seen its adjusted defensive efficiency rating jump from 103.9 to 108.1 points per 100 possessions (currently 9th in the MVC). Opposing teams are shooting 55.7 percent from inside the arc (10th in the MVC) and 37.3 percent from 3-point range (8th in the MVC) versus the Bulldogs’ defense through three conference matchups. The good news, UNi is 303rd in effective fg%, 329th from 2pt fg at 44% and 230th from three.
Against Drake, Southern Illinois cut the lead with second chance points. UNi is 28th in the country when it comes to offensive rebounding. 'Dogs can't let that happen. GUARDS MUST help Nick, BOX OUT!!!!
Green is very good., and as a frosh is getting 30 minutes a game, and the only Panther scoring in double digits (15). He gets 3 1/2 rebounds per game, but is averaging 3 turnovers to just 2.2 assists. It probably doesn't help that his teammates don't shoot well.

Typically UNI rides ball handlers and grab like crazy so I'm actually hoping that they do call it tightly. With Noah handling the ball we should have a speed advantage. I fully expect them to shoot 20 to 30% above their season shooting average and we always struggle in Cedar Falls. Getting a W today would be huge.
