Iowa State 86 --- 81 Drake
Drake led in the first half by as many as 10. Iowa State took the lead for the first time with just under a minute remiaing in the first half. Drkae never got the lead again. Cut the game to two under a minute. This team is far more effective when they don't play a zone. In the man-to-man, or woman-to-woman, Drake is more aggressive, even against a bigger and strong squad like ISU.
Close losses on the road, and a pathetic NCAA committee who favors the big schools, a must win at home against Iowa still might not be enough for a four seed.
Good effort!!

From what i saw it was another case of we didn't defend or out play the officals! They made as many no calls in ISU favor as the ones that called the mens game!

I think the game was actually tied at 79 apiece with a little over 50 sec remaining after being down by 11 but ISU immediately regained the lead . Then 2 offensive fouls by DU doomed the ladies. The officiating was not at all helpful to the Dogs.

Disappointing loss. The stripped team didn't help but we also got lazy in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, didn't even try to execute the last play of the game, and weren't physical enough. I would not want to be on the team this week; I suspect Jennie's got a very strong week of practice lined up. Classes ended last week so no NCAA practice restrictions until the end of January.
Good news is if we can beat Iowa we'll still have our best non-conference since Jennie took over the program. Bad news is this loss wipes out any chance of a Top 4 seed in the NCAA tournament and the fight for the rest of the regular season will be to avoid a de facto road game in the first round of the NCAA Tournament again.
Good to see a good amount of blue at Hilton today.

The officiating was not at all helpful to the Dogs. You are correct... they did tie (for a second). The ball just didn't move quickly from player to player on offense, and they are slow to help in the zone, especially in the second and third quarter. Yep, probably lost a four seed and home court. Would like to see a win over Iowa and possibly get a five seat.

Does anyone know what Drake ever did to get such bad treatment from the local newspaper or most of the refs. in the country?

+xDoes anyone know what Drake ever did to get such bad treatment from the local newspaper or most of the refs. in the country? Local Newspaper: Drake did nothing. Ongoing declines, falling revenues, and all the top cares about is page views. They get significantly more of that from Iowa/Iowa State than Drake. The Register just doesn't have the resources to also cover Drake anymore, especially with Iowa & Iowa State's men's and women's teams all having good years. Refs: Coach has ridden refs hard in her tenure and picked up a few technical fouls along the way. While the fight is a good one and the Power 5 opponents are almost always going to get the benefit of the doubt, there comes a point where you ride too hard and gain a reputation.

+xDisappointing loss. The stripped team didn't help.... Ok, you also made a comment about a "stripped team" in the men's thread vs Iowa State. I've been following basketball a long time, and I've never heard that term. What does it mean for a team to be stripped? Which team was stripped? Who stripped them of what? Do you mean shorthanded?

IllinoisBulldog is correct - "Stripped team" is commonly the refs as they wear stripes.

I've never heard refs referred to as striped team either, but at least that makes sense, unlike "stripped team" which would have an entirely different meaning.

+xNoticed Becca Jonas is not dressed to play in warmups. Anyone have any ideas why? Anyone know why she didn't play? Is she back tonight? Good luck to the lady Bulldogs. I'll be missing the game tonight.
