D1 wins:

Dayton over Robert Morris, 49–28.

Butler rallied from 14 down to beat #23 Youngstown State, 23–21.

A bunch of D1 losses and non-D1 wins.

Stetson played Waldorf (Forest City, IA) for some reason.

It's Ivy League weekend (not for Drake, of course).

San Diego at Harvard
Princeton at Butler

Total stab in the dark but Waldorf's HC was previously the OC at Doane University which is the Alma Mater of Stetson's HC.

Davidson gets in some of the weirdest games. 91–61 win over D3 Guiford.

Davidson led Jacksonville 44–9 in 4Q and nearly blew it despite never throwing the ball and playing a team that runs mostly the same system (and never throws). 44–37 final.

Looks like there are at least as many schools talking about joining the PFL as there are talking about leaving.

Leaving?
Stetson
Jacksonville

No time soon, but they have a standing offer of football membership from the Big South.  Roger Hughes' comment, "once we go to scholarships" may or may not be hyperbole.  I can't imagine a Southern D-I team (outside of Davidson) not getting scholarships at some point.

Joining
Presbyterian 2021

Might Join
Augustana University (possible move up from D-II)
They have announced a D-I "study," apparently after receiving an invitation to join the Summit League.  As rumors go, it's a good bet they're moving up.  10,000-seat stadium was recently renovated.  MVFC membership doesn't seem possible initially, but may be a long-term goal.  In the meantime, dropping scholarships and joining the PFL may be a safe harbor.  They would get chewed up as an underfunded independent.

Unknown
Green Bay
Dixie State University
(Utah)

DSU is rumored to be one of several schools invited to join the WAC, if they move up from D-II.  Metro State is the only school I've seen that has acknowledged WAC interest, but I think there's more.  Of the WAC's supposed targets, Dixie-- with a 28-scholarship football team and 10,000-seat stadium-- would seem to be the only school that would consider the PFL.  I don't think they would get an invitation to Big Sky football for many, many years.  I'd rate DSU as a 50/50 proposition to move up.

IMO, Augie (Sioux Falls) would be the most interesting addition.  Second Midwestern, Lutheran school in the PFL.  Athletic upgrades will be bankrolled by T. Denny Sanford.  They would instantly become the closest geographic rival for Drake.

Green Bay would become the eighth UW school with nonscholarship football.  The others are all D-III.  Guess I know what their non-league schedule would look like.

Just found this:

So I guess the WAC might sponsor football again (who knew?).  Looks like Dixie will not be a candidate for PFL membership.

Wonder if WAC football would encourage San Diego to add football scholarships and leave the PFL (they were caught giving them a few years ago) .

WAC seems pretty far off. One football school, who would have to drop down to FCS, right now.

Others in the WAC:
- Chicago State (might close or drop athletics)
- UMKC (might drop to D2)
- Bakersfield (on way out)
- Cal Baptist (maybe?)
- Grand Canyon (maybe?)
- UTRGV (maybe?)
- Utah Valley (probably?)
- Seattle (probably not considering they want to be in the WCC)

I don't see it. You're looking at four startup programs + a D2 promotion.

WAC seems pretty far off.

Agreed.  It might hinge upon New Mexico State dropping to FCS.

At that point, a WAC sponsored football league would need five additional members to qualify for an automatic playoff bid. Most likely...

Dixie State:  thinking about it
UTRGV: thinking about it
Tarleton State: supposedly has WAC invitation to move up from D-II
UC-Davis:  currently associate football member of Big Sky
Cal Poly:   same as Davis

That's a lot that would have to fall into place.
