Norwalk 6-0 PG.

Could be as asset recruiting wise as one of his teammates (Bowen Born) may be highly coveted.

Interestingly was going to walk on at Northeastern. Very good school, not one we hear about here much.

I think a GREAT pick up!  Luke is a tough player, hard nosed guy 4.0 student. I am not convinced he won't see minutes some day.  I think just a great pick up for Drake especially as a walk on!

I imagine the conference he was in for high school was very very small schools? Someone with those types of All-State numbers seems really impressive to me, so the fact that he is a walk-on seems a bit surprising. But I'm the opposite of an expert on Iowa high school basketball.

I mean it’s 3A basketball, you could do a lot worse. Oskaloosa is a 3A team as well and they have that guy that’s probably going to garner Harrison Barnes/Marcus Paige like recruiting attention

It's a Des Moines suburban school.  They were ranked as the #1 team in 3A for much of the season, I think.  3A is the second biggest class in Iowa.

I've seen the kid play in the summer league here.  Nice player.  Won't see any playing time immediately, but I could see him getting some time in the future.

Same conference as Gholson and Sturtz. (or, going back further, all the Korvers)

For the first time in a while, I feel like there’s -maybe- some sort of long term plan for these walk-ons to eventually contribute. I realize that at anytime over the next 2-3 years they might get that itch to play and transfer down. But I feel good about the walk-ons.

Little Hawkeye Conference is typically one of the best in the state, especially for 3A. Has some 4A schools some years (alot of the teams are borderline 3A/4A)....Also a 2A team in there, but typically one of the better ones in PC.

other than Jones, they're local kids, which would make it more likely that they stick around. (Not that you have to be local to stick around...Emmenecker.) But if a walk-on is more likely to contribute if they stick around 3+ years, having guys more likely to stick around, you know, makes it more likely they can contribute.

Is there a rule in NCAA (as there is in Iowa High School and National Federation High School) that you cannot "dress" more than 15 players for games?

Just DU it !

I was wondering that as well since now we have four walk-ons.

I can't find anything other than vague references to "high school and college rosters are limited to 15 players"....on Wikipedia.

Just DU it !

That sounds right. Maybe it means that DeVries is planning on pocketing at least one scholarship.

I don't think there's a limit to how many guys can be on your roster but I think there's a limit to how many can dress for a game.....but, I'm not sure how  many that is.

That's correct. I know it is 15 for the regular season. I think it is the same for the postseason as well, but I'm not positive about that

have we gotten any confirmation that Sturtz is still coming, or are we just assuming that?

For example, Vaske was supposed to walk on an Northeastern until yesterday as I understand it...not sure it was really out there he was thinking about alternatives.
