Apparently, will be some minor changes in Knapp Center over the summer KNAPP CENTER PROJECTS
When we tip off for next basketball season, we hope you might notice some changes to the Knapp Center. Some will be subtle while others could be a drastic departure from the current appearance inside the Knapp Center. After Drake Relays and prior to graduation, we are planning to change out the lighting in the arena to more energy-efficient LED lights. Later in the summer, we will be taking out the basketball floor and putting a new floor into the arena. Renderings for the new court design are currently being produced and we look forward to sharing various options with you.

Dang, I was hoping they would fill in the corner seating to form a bowl. And make the gray seats blue. I'm in the camp of making the Knapp Center basketball only and not multi-purpose with the track and extra courts for student use. Any other recent grads have an issue with the Bell Center being the only place for some pickup ball if it meant the Knapp was cooler?
I just want the Knapp Center to look like Troy University's arena. My favorite small school arena by far.
But hey, small changes are better than no changes! Hope the floor design is awesome!

Could they still do volleyball if they bowled the Knapp center? Not sure what kinda layout that takes.
Even then, I don’t see them ever bowling in the Knapp center.

They could still do volleyball with a bowl. But I think we're holding out until we can do a full bowl (lower + upper), and that can't be done until we build the indoor track (parking lot west of the stadium). Our track teams rely on that upper track in the Knapp for training in the winter. As far as I know, a Knapp Center bowl is part of the long-term plan.
I'd like to see a new audio system on the list for the Knapp Center, but apparently it costs about $500K. Oof.

Does adding a bowl even matter? Niko is going to elevate the program to levels not seen since the 60's. The Big East is going to add us and then we're looking at playing home games at Wells Fargo due to drawing 10,000 plus fans. Personally, I was disappointed on where the practice facilities were placed since it limits expansion-renovation of the knapp center.

Is the bowl needed for effect? Bringing fans closer to the action? Other Valley locations I go to don't really use the corners, the ends are usually students or bands most the time not overly full at that. I guess Peoria is bowl-esque.

Personally I think we should probably worry about sell out what we already have.

+xPersonally I think we should probably worry about sell out what we already have. +1 Also of note, the Knapp Center hosts many events besides Drake Basketball and Volleyball such as AAU Basketball/Volleyball Tournaments that bowling the arena would make it impossible or at least substantially more difficult to host. I see very many downsides and few upsides to bowling the Knapp Center at this time.

I can't wait to see them in action. As for beer - i thought beer sales can't be a thing at an on campus facility?

Alcohol sales are up to the school, they just aren’t very common still. The NCAA never banned them to my knowledge other than from their own championships
