If your expectations going into the season were 8 wins, which would have been an improvement over the last two seasons, he doubled it.
His first full recruiting class has the chance to be the best class Drake has brought in since maybe Maury John.
He has been far more active in the media and community than maybe any coach at Drake recent memory (maybe Tom Davis was equal).
The entire atmosphere around the program is on a big upswing. This will take time, but he has probably done more than anyone could expect. The new AD has helped in this, too, and this may be the biggest plus in 2018.
If you give him anything less than an A, you are focusing too much on what happened on the floor, and not all of that was his doing. He could not control the talent and weaknesses that he inherited.

I gave him a "B" - but this is more of my lingering pissed offness about losing to Valpo on senior night than reality. If I'm honest, how do you not give an "A" to a guy that takes a team as bad as Drake and misses Drake night for the first time in a decade?

I almost gave a B bc of the Valpo game, but he has taken this team places none of us thought possible this year. Most definitely an A.

He can recruit, as good a coach as we've had in a long time and a great motivator. OK, Valpo game wasn't good but we don't do great against long, tall, decently athletic post players players. We were picked for 10th place and we finished 4th. An A.

I was disappointed in the valpo game as well, but my goodness look at what he’s done with the squad he inherited. Valpo was a matchup problem with the bulldogs undersized. Hard to put it on the coach.

Seeing what he has made this team into, the heady play and ability to defend. Nonexistent under the Jack era.

Plus the other points above on recruiting and marketing efforts in Des Moines. A for me.

I gave an A, but it is too early to know for sure. Let’s see how he developes his recruits, that on paper have us looking forward to seeing them and almost even excited.

+1. Developing recruits is the only thing we haven't seen yet. He's handled everything thrown at him in his first year very well and the results speak for themselves for a team picked to finish last in the conference again.

I'm ready to give him credit there as well...with McGlynn's improvement (sans the Valpo game)...and receiving Most Improved honors.

Just DU it !
