In the last week, MSU has picked up transfers from both Indiana and Xavier. UNI has a commitment from a top 100 player (helps this his dad is UNI's associate HC) Loyola has a commitment from a 4* big man from La Lumiere.

Honestly, they turned out about the way I would have expected. On the surface, there would seem to be a difference in getting transfers from Indiana and Xavier vs Penn State and Northwestern, just based on how much better the IU and XU programs are than PSU and NU (this is before NU started improving).

The kid who left Indiana said he was forced out, after basically being told that he wouldn't see any action, and in so many words, that he wasn't good enough. I think he transferred to a junior college in Missouri for a semester....or something like that, if I recall.

Yep, he's at a juco in Missouri this year....I think it might be the same juco that Kolowski was at last season. The new Indiana staff basically forced him out, from what I've read. Other than Indiana, he had only mid-major offers out of high school. The kid from Xavier was homesick, hadn't played a game yet. He's from Springfield, MO, so it makes sense that he ended up at MSU.

NBC Sports' Conference PreviewNot surprisingly the main focus is on how Wichita State is gone. Drake only gets mentioned in the poll, predicted to finish last.

Timmer named preseason team all conference. Along with Jackson (LUC), Scott (InSU), Koch (UNI), and Ingram (LUC). Alize of course named preseason POY. http://mvc-sports.com/news/2017/10/20/arch-madness-missouri-state-picked-to-win-mvc-mens-basketball.aspx

I think I'm about as objective as a fan could be, but I don't think Drake is going to finish in last place.

+xI think I'm about as objective as a fan could be, but I don't think Drake is going to finish in last place. Of course not, how could they when they'll be finishing in first?! Kidding of course, but I tend to agree with you. I HOPE they won't, and I don't think they will. I have complete faith in Niko, based on nothing other than what he's done previously but as a Drake fan you kind of have to have blind faith at this point, or complete apathy.

+xI think I'm about as objective as a fan could be, but I don't think Drake is going to finish in last place. The MVC has never been weaker or more blatantly a one-seed conference. I think we can muster something better than last place. I know we don't have much, but I'd be disappointed in Niko if we couldn't pull out something a bit better than last year.

I don't believe Drake will come in last and I don't believe MSU will come in first. There have been years when everyone sort of beats up on everyone, I believe it will be a major year of that type. Last year we won at MSU for the first time in a long, long time and in Des Moines it came down to a bad call. Yes, Yes I know they have Alize.. My thinking is UNI or Illinois State will put something together to win the conference. I also think Valpo will do better than expected. I seem to recall after quite a few trips to St. Louis and we have played on Thursday a bunch, after almost escaping Thursday, but it didn't work out. It seems we always either play Bradley or SIU on Thursday. I have a gut feeling, no scientific reason we will come in 5th or 6th.

Try a teaspoon of baking powder in a cup of water to alleviate that gut feeling and bring yourself back to normal.
Moving forward.....

I've watched DT use water and baking powder to rock up his Geritol.

I tried the baking powder but still have the Bulldogs in 5-6 place. I think Nick will start rebounding every ball in sight. Last year he would try a three from time to time and this year most of his three's will be good. After seeing all the exciting things to do in Lynchburg, VA, I am seriously thinking of going. They have the NASCAR cap museum, car that runs on Kool Aid, A roll of toilet paper Elvis signed, and a bed and breakfast that caters to nudist with Mullets. Lynchburg sights to see link. Hammy there is probably a Netjets going to Lynchburg.

Thanks for the link Music... Riverview had opened on the evening of June 16, 1963 to a tremendous crowd, and festivities were in full swing when suddenly the huge Ferris Wheel, fully loaded with riders, detached from its mounts and began rolling through the park. Some onlookers watched in horror and others ran for their lives to dodge the out-of-control wheel as it continued rolling through and out of the park, continuing several hundred feet where it then crashed through the fence at a neighboring power substation. Sparks exploded into the night sky as the wheel made contact with high voltage transformers, instantly shutting off all power to the park and simultaneously electrocuting all riders who had been unable to free themselves from their seat harnesses. Forty-six people died as a result of the tragic mishap, and the following day, county officials closed and condemned the park. One survivor of the nightmarish Ferris Wheel ride commented to the local press following the accident, "It's a real shame about the accident, but that wheel gave me the ride of my life." No traces remain today of Riverview Amusement Park on the bluff above the James, but a small commemorative plaque was erected in the late 1970's on the site, which is now occupied by a sign company.
